^No, the "appearance" of the dark Links was meant to be "symbolic". There're not really "there". They're like a story telling thing, they're meant to show Link what will happen to those who seek the Triforce and Dark powers, they become evil and stuff.

1) I don't see why someone couldn't have fixed the mirror.
2) While the mirror/Dark Tribe connect the two games thematically, they do not connect the games chronologically. The sealing of the Interlopers into the Twilight Realm had to have happened in Hyrule's distant past. This would place the event before OoT, meaning that the Twilight Realm and Mirror exist in all three timelines.
