After a five years journey, the NASA probe sent primarily to investigate Jupiter's structure. It will investigate the nature of its magnetic field and gravity field. The hope is to determine the internal composition of Jupiter to get a better idea of how the planet formed. Since it is the most influential planet in our system, knowing that will go a huge way to understanding the initial formation of our planetary system.
Here's an excellent video by PBS Space Time explaining Juno's primary mission and why it is so important to understand and does an excellent job explaining Jupiter's role in the formation of our planetary system.
