I wanted to share my thoughts on how Skyward Sword will probably begin, and I mean after you rename Link "Dumb ****" and his Loft Bird "YO MAMA!" You all know you want to name them that!
It will start from Link's POV. The screen is dark because he's asleep. A voice calls out for him to wake up and he opens his eyes to see Zelda only a few inches from his face. Cut to 3-person to see the surprised look on Link's face as he falls out of his hammock. Zelda giggles and asks if he's okay, to which he responds by pulling her leg so she falls over too. Zelda laughs even harder before the two get up and dust themselves off. She takes another look at Link and asks if he feel asleep without changing clothes again. Link just realizes that he has and looks rather nervous. Zelda smacks him in the shoulder and tells him that he doesn't have to worry about it, she understands that he has to train hard. She then reminds him that his competition is today and he should get to the racing platform right away. Even though she's supposed to be impartial, she says she's secretly routing for him and promises to give him something special if he wins. Before she can elaborate, someone calls for her, she admits that she sneaked off to see Link and will get in trouble if she's caught in his room. She runs off and wishes him luck.
At this point, you can control Link. Once you leave his room, you run into the man who called for Zelda. He asks if you've seen her, but doesn't allow you to answer because he's to busy ranting about what a handful she is and that he shouldn't be expecting to chase her around everywhere. Once you exit the dorm building, you get an aerial view of Skyloft before you can explore it directly. The only place you can really go is the racing platform, where you run into Link's rival (let's call him "Jerky"). "Jerky" says that he will finally show Link up and prove he's really a nobody, wondering aloud why such a special bird would want such a pathetic master. You can choose to ignore him or tell him to shut his noise hole, neither option makes him happy. Before "Jerky" has a chance to verbally abuse you farther, the Ceremony Leader shows up to explain the race. After he's done, he says that Zelda will present a prize to the winner, "Jerky" of course claims that it will be him and he'll finally impress Zelda...blah blah blah
The race starts, but thankfully, your competition might as well be flapping their arms. They are no good at flying and you can easily win the match. After you do, Zelda runs from the judges stand and jumps (her father doesn't take that well). Link catches her and she congratulates him, wrapping her arms around his neck. When Link lands, Zelda's father comes running and they have a bit of a row about her behavior (apparently, this isn't the first time Zelda has pulled a stunt like this). The Ceremony Leader advices Zelda's father to handle his family issues after Zelda has given Link his prize. He agrees and Zelda gives Link the Beetle, and also asks him to wait in his room for her as she has something else she wants to give him. When Zelda leaves, "Jerky" decides to try and take a few potshots at Link. He makes the accusation that Link only won because "of that bird of his". Link is incredibly hurt by this remark, and the Ceremony Leader tells "Jerky" to shove it. The Ceremony Leader takes Link aside and reminds him that--since Loft Birds choose their masters and stay with them for life--his would not have chosen lightly. Link's Loft Bird chose him for a reason, perhaps for something he himself could not even see. He then congratulates Link and says that his father would have been proud (seems that he was quite a flier in his day) then walks off.
At that point, you can go around Skyloft to show off your new Beetle. The townsfolk are quite impressed, some commenting how much Link is like his father. The girls will fawn over him and ask if it's true that he and Zelda are an item (clearly hoping that the answer is "no"). Eventually, you'll have to return to Link's room and wait for Zelda. It turns out that you won't have to wait at all, as she is waiting for you. She says that she wants to give Link something special. Something far better than that silly beetle, but wants to take him somewhere before she gives it to him (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). She leads Link out and tells him that she wants to fly to a small island that she found a few months back. As they venture out, Link notices some people looking for her. She admits that she sneaked out without telling her father but assures Link that it's important and won't take long. Once you sneak into the Loft Bird pens, they mount their birds and fly off.
As Zelda leads the way, a mysterious whirlwind sucks her inside it and and pulls her below the clouds. Link jumps after her but cannot reach. His Loft Bird tries to save him, but Zelda's scarf goes into it's face and temporarily blinds it. After Link loses sight of Zelda, his fall begins to slow and he sees a mysterious silver figure come toward him. The gemstone in the figure's chest glows and, in a white flash, Link and his Loft Bird find themselves on a tall spire of rock. The rock billows with clouds and he can see Skyloft from it. The silver figure says that this might have been where "The Holy One" wished to take him. Link doesn't seem to understand, so she explains who she is. She says that her name is "Phi" and she was sent to serve him and help him save "The Holy One". Link doesn't seem to know who Phi is talking about, but his Loft Bird does. The bird drops Zelda's scarf in Link's lap. Realizing what Phi is talking about, he nods his head. Phi explains that Zelda has been taken to "the land beneath the clouds"; and, if Link expects to save her, he must get more information from the Skyloft elder then acquire "something to defend himself from attack" and "something to cut through his enemies".
Link returns to Skyloft and explains to the elder, Zelda's father (how dramatically convenient). He tells Link that their ancestors lived below the clouds long ago, but fled the surface when it became to dangerous. He also identifies Phi as a fairy spirit, and says that it's a good sign that one came to Link in his time of need. Before Link goes, he gives the youth a green cloak that he used to wear when he was young and went on adventures. He then tells Link where to get a sword and shield, claiming that the fairy spirit will protect him far more effectively then any normal weapon or armor. Link gathers his new equipment and Phi explains how he can go beneath the clouds. She guides him to the best place for them to start looking and Link dives to the land below, ready to save his best friend.
Well, that was long-winded. What do you think? I want a prize if the game actually does start like this.
