What's even better is the blight most affected by arrows killing a bow wielder. Ravioli truly was the greatest archer of all the rito if he couldn't overpower something that was weak to the only weapon he uses.

I mostly love Botw's tragic story, but there's a lot of lazy story-telling in it. Calamity Ganon was simply stronger than the four Champions but the game could've done a better job showing the intensity of that. Ah well...

Daruk didn't have bombs as far as I know, and you did need bombs to counter that one, big attack from Fireblight

That's one way to explain what Link had that Daruk didn't!
But Daruk does have a special blocking ability with his Power of Protection that basically acts like a reflection bomb. Perhaps it didn't work with Ganon's own shield? The Blights were supposed to be stronger copies of the Champions so maybe that's what did it.

Another thing to consider is Zelda holding back Ganon's power in botw. Her sealing of him, while temporary and precarious, does weaken his power quite a bit. He's stuck around Hyrule Castle, and there isn't as much malice goop as one might expect. The blights are considerably weakened by the time Link faces them in botw, without Ganon really having a need for them since the champions died. When we face off against them in AoC they're faster, brighter, and generally more powerful than what Link would eventually face. Even a Champion as strong as Daruk can get worn down by so relentless an enemy.

He might have surprised Daruk. According to the memories the champions had to hurry to their divine beasts because of calamity Ganon attacking. There they walked into a trap and were overwhelmed by the enemy. And like Bowsette said Daruk might have been attacked by the axe. Daruk could've used his power to fight off the attack but it's very possible he at one point was thrown off his guard. The blights are very fast and Daruk is strong but with an enemy that fast and without bombs to project himself even Daruk is no match. Plus Rudania was no longer under his control so Daruk had two things to fight against. Trying to control Rudania and to fight off the blight

I was actually reading a Reddit post yesterday that kind of explains why he may have failed. When the Calamity struck the Champions were on Lanayru Road and had to disperse to their Divine Beasts. Medoh was by far the furthest away, and Revali also probably had to fly over Central Hyrule which would have been overrun by corrupted Guardians.

It's speculated that the Illusory Realm boss fights in The Champion's Ballad simulate the conditions the Champions had to deal with in terms of inventory against the Blight they had to fight. Revali apparently only had 5 Bomb Arrows, and he was missing his Great Eagle Bow. He probably used up a lot of his bomb arrows trying to get to Medoh, and his specialty bow probably broke on the way.

Considering how far he had to fly, he was probably the most tired out of all the Champions while facing a Blight. If it was night time as well, his vision for archery was probably extremely poor since apparently most birds have bad night vision.

So all that could explain why Revali could not defeat Windblight. However if that theory of the SOS signals being sent out is true, Revali was the last one to send out a signal so in spite of all of that he still faired slightly better than the other Champions. So it's possible if luck has been on his side that Revali may have been able to beat Windblight, under different conditions.

I feel like it's kind of a mistake to look at the fight mechanically when it should be looked at from more of a narrative point of view

If we look at Daruk versus the Blight and say that Daruk lost because he didn't have bombs to counteract a specific move that the Blight uses against Link during a boss fight, we're assuming that the story operates under the same logic that gameplay does, which video game stories tend not to. It feels more likely that Daruk just wasn't strong enough to contend with the Blight. It probably overpowered him physically and then killed him, no special vortex move needed.

The Blight beat Daruk because it was more powerful narratively. Being an aspect of Ganon, it has vague levels of power that put it leagues above most characters in the franchise.

This makes me long for an alternative universe breath of the wild where one of the champions survives and they guide you instead of impa and don't reveal who they are
You know, if it was Revali, then the actual plot twist that he didn't like Link at first, but then ended up having to guide him and grew to like him through the guidence would actually be pretty cool.
