How a Space setting in a Zelda game should be executed.

I know that this has been discussed into oblivion and that there was satirical "concept art" made by Nintendo that mocked the idea, though here's my idea of how this premise would or rather should be presented without totally ditching the medieval fantasy aspects of the series:

Having the depiction of space be based on astronomy and astrology from before the 19th century and the industrial revolution and have it lean sharply into soft science fiction, space opera and science fantasy with some aspects of cosmic horror in terms of depicting the main villain of the premise.

When I mean before the 19th century, I mean people's ideas of how they thought outer space worked as well as depicting the heavens/firmament in the style of these old charts and artwork made at that time.

They Hyruleans would refer to outer space as the "Firmament" or "Sea of Stars".

As for a plot, it would involve...

A member of a distant spacefaring civilization carrying an important relic landing on the planet Hyrule is on:

Hyrule being unceremoniously dragged into an Interstellar war:

And the prophesized return of an ancient evil that was defeated in the unfathomably distant past, now made aware of the power of the Triforce:

These circumstances would force Link or Zelda to have to travel "Beyond the Firmament" to both resolve the war and defeat this ancient evil as it's the entire universe that is now at stake, not just Hyrule.

And yet things cross continuities like Deku, Triforce shards, Sheikah, and etc.
though what do you think of this sort of execution of the concept? Having the depiction of space in this premise be based on now disproven and strange concepts and theories from the early years of astronomy of how they thought space and the universe looked and worked instead of a realistic depiction based on modern astronomy? Basing it on old artwork and aesthetic from early astronomy instead of a realistic take?

I think the moon should definitely be part of the story.

definitely...

And since my execution of this idea uses early Astronomy as the portrayal of space, i have the idea of references to mechanisms such as Orreries and planetariums. Like when one gets far enough away from a star system, they start to see faint and ethereal mechanisms under and around the celestial bodies reminiscent of an orrery.

As stated before, a stylistic depiction of space based on ideas and concepts from the early years of astronomy instead of a realistic depiction. Something along the lines of the Super Mario Galaxy duology.

Maybe the moon is just one big luminous stone!

this idea of seeing the mechanisms of the universe would probably be quite interesting. like there was more to the creation myth of hyrule and the realm before it's creation.
Well, for sure there’s no reason to follow the modern day “science” of our times to delve into certain mechanisms.
It‘s so cultish these days anyways, you can’t have fun with new ideas and theories because, uh “science”.

I mean, even the goddesses using a vulgar language so a Princess and a hero can understand basic concepts can lead to many interpretations.

I think that the very nature of Hyrue's skies as being where the gods are from would make such an idea impossible. no mortal could enter the palace of the gods. The closest we'll ever get is skyloft.

I dunno if that's necessarily the case. My first point would be that we live in a world with several prominent religions supposing divine being that have to coexist with the reality of space and stars. I don't think there's any reason to assume that the divine cosmology of Zelda is constrained to one little Hyrule-shaped pile of dirt, but that Hyrule is just one more pile of dirt in the universe they (maybe) created if Zelda ever gets around to some worldbuilding.

My second point would be Dungeons and Dragons and the existence of the Starjammer settings/vehicle.

Starjammers (and their more alien ilithid counterpart: the nautioid) are the spacecraft of the Forgotten Realms. They and the cosmos they traverse exist alongside a prototypical fantasy setting populated with gods that are not only accepted, but sometimes make their presences known through avatars and direct intervention.

So... just do a D&D. :eyes:

I think that a good idea for a start of a Zelda game in space is from Majora's Mask, there's a lot of people wanting to go to space in Clocktown alone, coupled with Them at the ranch. A Majora's Mask sequel with the setting being Space would be perfect for keeping a realistic transition.

That could work, given the way space works there, It is possible to have a game like that, the question is, how would you get Link over there. the hero of time left, so would another link so how stubble upon this place?

and then it would become similar to wind waker/phantom hourglass but with planets replacing islands.
