Majora's Mask Hero's Shield?

This is something that I've wondered about since I could hold a three-pronged controller, what happened to the Hylian shield when it crossed into Termina? It still has many of the same features, but what's up with the bird's wings? And why is the Triforce below the bird? Anybody have an idea?

I guess the reason they changed the shield in Majora's Mask is so it would make sense that young Link can now hold a metal shield. They could say that it's lighter than the Hylian shield. Also, they completely changed Link's appearance, including his sword, so it would make sense to change the shield too.

That's likely, but here's an in-game version: After the events of OoT, young Link likely had a lighter metal shield commissioned that he could use on his quest for a lost friend. As far as the design goes, it probably suited Link's depressed thoughts about losing a friend, and the impending doom of Termina (why the shield in the store is the same).

The world of Termina in Majora's Mask is an alternate dimension and nothing can remain the same after entering. After all, Link himself was mutated into a Deku after crossing the warp hole. The positioning of the bird and Triforce on the shield are inverted in relation to their position in Ocarina of Time. Nothing can be believed, everything can be believed. In Termina, the entire environment is deceiving, an allegory for a terrible dream you can't awake from.

I have included a picture comparison of the Hylian shield in Ocarina of Time and the Hero's Shield from Majora's Mask in the spoiler tag below.

That wasn't because of the portal, it was the Skull Kid's doing. If Skull Kid hadn't cursed Link, he would have never turned into a walking plant.

@ALIT That could be but you forget that the sword and shield were different before entering Termina. After Learning the song of Healing, Link reverted back to his normal self.

I think It's more likely that Link was given a shield that was made for a child as a reward for stopping Ganon.
It would make sense considering it is called the Hero's shield.

As to why the Kokiri Sword changed is a mystery. It would've been better if they called it the Hero's Sword and left us to assume he returned the Kokiri Sword.
