Phantom Hourglass Help Mercay Island Basement 2

I am at the part where I have to revisit the temple and there is no key on basement 2 to continue to 3. I thought it was suposed to reset everything. And how do I continue with no key?

There is a key there; it just doesn't appear until the two crystal switches in the top right part of the room are triggered in quick succesion.
