Skyward Sword Help!! How Do You Jump Backwards or Dodge in Skyward Sword

When I see mini-boss battles against Stalfos or battles agains bosses like Ghiraham, somehow, the player manages to jump backwards like a backwards somersault or dodge the swords. All I can do is turn around and run away or use my shield. How do i dodge in Skyward Sword?? Thnx in Advance

Z-target enemy and stay targeted. When you're targeted, A basically becomes a dodge button. When you're moving left or right and press A, you side-jump. Move backwards and press A to backflip. You must be targeting to do this.

While you are locked of to a target with Z, you can press A to jump in the direction you are moving. That means that if you are moving backwards, you will jump back when you press A. Hope it helps! You will certainly need it when you have your final battle!
