I recently finished Majora's Mask, and it left a permanent effect on me. The game was so good. My favorite thing about the game was the NPC's (or no player controlled ) they were great. They had lives. They had hopes cares fears, and they were genuinely afraid of the moon and they though they were gonna die. But which NPC was the best. There are several ways to decide. Whether this person had the best schedule, the best sidequest, the best back story, or just all around awesome.
Mine are:
Best backstory: Cremia ( The Middle Gorman bro was cool too )
Best schedule: MailMan
All around Awesome: Mikau
Favorite of All: Cremia and Kafei

Cremia and Romani. The game guilt-tripped(:)) me into feeling bad for them and making me want to save them!

Seriously, though, They really added to the sense of desperation the game gave. I just felt that their character was so deep, and moving!

I don't want to say.
Romani alone really. She's a very strong girl and definitely shows potential for fighting prowess. I like her spunk. However, she got really creepy if you didn't save the farm on time:

After all, getting your mind probed does not seem to be a pleasant experience. One also has to wonder how Cremina reacted when Romani was just returned.

Wait, her mind gets probed? I haven't seen that yet. I need to play MM again. In any case, though, I need to say Keaton. Come on, you gotta love that little fox! Gerudo Pirates can't see you because of a magical rock mask, and Keaton can see past your disguise with an even BETTER MASK. Keaton just wins for me, hands down. Second, though, I need to say Romani.

What was the point of me putting in spoiler tags if your going to just say that out loud?

I've never had that happen to me! How many times do you have to do the sidequest for that to happen?

Once. She sticks her chest right in your face. And Link is like "Um... Ok then."

I've always been interested in the band the Indigo-Gos.

They're interesting with the instruments and the easter eggs that they play. And they are doing their best for the Carnival of Time. I pitied Lulu when she lost her voice, ad I felt so unhappy that Mikau was...not there with them anymore.

Zorato, to your post, the only thing I can truly say is a resounding "yes" of approval. You pretty much stated in a few sentences why I love Majora's Mask the most. I am obligated to say that my personal favorite is the HMS, but I take it you mean the stories of those who were actually dwelling in Termina before the descent of the moon. It is difficult to sort out "the best", as they each stirred their share of emotions. Perhaps one of my favorites is Gorman, crushed with the cancelation of the his troup's performance. Now, drowing his sorrows in a Milk Bar (never drink too much milk, kids!), he is utterly depressed. However, after hearing the "Ballad of the Wind Fish"- the song which encouraged him to begin a career in the performance field- he is awakened once more. It is these personal revelations that each character undergoes which truly makes the game great....

Oh yes, we can't forget the entire Indigo Gos side story, now can we?

Cremia/Romani and Anju/Kafei definitely have the deepest emotional representation in the game, so much so that the game makes you want to help them for a reason other than just to earn the item/mask rewards for doing it. And their emotions are on opposite ends of the spectrum depending on if you succeed or fail in helping them.
