Human beings sure have a lot of expressions. Not the least of which are our manner of dress. Throughout the ages fashions have come and gone, from the good to the bad to the downright wrong! What are some of the best and worst dressed fashion eras in history?
The Bad:
1700's Europe and North America, Colonial Era and Enlightenment - Powered wigs, ribbons, stockings and heels for men and women, tricorner hats, and an ungodly excess of frills. It's difficult to imagine some of mankind's greatest scientists, philosophers, and military commanders dressing like that.
Dishonorable Mention:
1960s and 1970's Europe and North America - Bel bottoms and polyester, some of the most atrocious footwear in all of fashion history, plaid in colors plaid never had any business being comprised of, garish clashing colors in general, and eye wear whose hideousness is only surpassed by that awkward period in the 80s and early 90s. Never again, people. Never. Again.
The Good:
Turn of the Century Europe and North America, Victorian Era - Yeah, now we're talking! This is my favorite era for fashion. From swanky hats to tailored jackets, to opera gloves and hoop dresses, the turn of the century was the height of fashion in all of human history. Men looked dapper af, ladies looked classy and elegant. High class and lower class both boasted fashionable threads. Everyone was macked out to the hilt. Everyone was fly.
Honorable Mention:
Feudal Japan - I've always been a fan of Japanese stylings, be it landscaping or architecture. Japan's dress fashion is no exception. It's not easy to wear robes with sandals and socks and still manage to look fly, but somehow the Japanese even managed to do it looking bad ass.
