It seems like everyone is looking at Epona's side of "winning." I will present what good things the train has.

1) Can carry big loads
2) Shoots bombs
3) Has a whistle (fun to pull)
4) I like technology (especially the robots in Skyward Sword)
5) Link could build new tracks
6) The train could be like the one in back to the future, don't need tracks!

Hahaha! But yes, Epona is WAY better.
Epona would be getting chsed by the Train, but then run up to a cliff edge and quickly make her sharpest turn. Of course, the train would fail to do so, and crash down at the cliff bottom. It would be like dodging a missile.

I've always deemed Epona to be link's sole legitimate steed. The player fosters a bond with the horse moreso than any inanimate transportation method. Traversing Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess is one of the greatest memories I harbor and cherish as a gamer. Something I also liked is that you could name your horse unlike another animal Link recently rode. *cough*Loftwing*cough*
