Dragon Ball /DBZ/DBGT/DBS and etc Discussion

The first anime I ever saw as a kid was Dragon Ball Z: The Android Saga and Cell Saga, and the result was like Goku when he eats bowls of rice, I consumed as much Saiyan media as I could. My friend had a lot of the old movies like Bardock, Broly, Cooler, and etc, and he had Dragon Ball, so we watched all of those. Then Dragon Ball GT which is my personal favorite btw, well it blew me away.

I saw some Dragon Ball Kai, and I have gone through most of Dragon Ball Super, save some of the movies which I need to catch up on.

I wanted to make an official place to discuss DB, share favorite memes, media, collectables, and etc.

Today I was stunned like Vegeta:

I bought them both!

Super Saiyan 4 Goku is my favorite form and design in all of DB universe (hence my profile pic).

I cannot make a thread like this without making mention of the tragic passing of Akira Toriyama. I hope he is resting in peace in Other World.

Fave will always remain Dragon Ball Z.

I really enjoyed Super too, and am looking forward to the anime catching up with the manga at some point.

Dragon Ball is a classic and I can respect it even though I didn't watch all of it.

Dragon Ball GT wasn't that good, but I did enjoy the designs for Super Saiyan 4.

I grew up watching Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z on Toonami back in the early to mid 2000s.

I absolutely loved both shows, and they're both the peak of Dragon Ball to me in their own way.

Dragon Ball has a fantastic mix of adventure and hand to hand martial arts that its sequels lack. The comedy is downright hilarious at times too.

Meanwhile, DBZ has by far the grittiest tone of the franchise and the best villains as well as transformations.

I don't remember DBGT all that well at this point. I remember really liking Super Saiyan 4 and Baby back in the day, though. I need to rewatch it.

Dragon Ball Super got off to a rough start with those movie retellings, but once Goku fought Hit in the first tournament, things picked up quickly. The Future Trunks arc has that vintage DBZ feel, and the Tournament of Power breathed new life into DB tournaments with Ultra Instinct potentially being my favorite DB form ever.

I'm cautiously optimistic for Dragon Ball Daima. I'm not the biggest fan of the characters being aged down, but perhaps this series can recapture the adventure aspect of the original DB.

I agree Dragon Ball had a comedic vibe that DBZ did not, I remember Cell freaking me out as he drained people with his tail, very Lovecraftian.

Super while I enjoyed it, felt a little too polished somehow, maybe its I like the old grittier look of Anime such as Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Geneshaft, Gundam Wing, and DB & DBZ.

I need to rewatch Dragon Ball GT too, the permise of revenge against the Saiyans for being destroyers (their true purpose) was a great concept, especially because Goku, Vegeta, and their broods are heroes not destroyer gods.

Is Dragon Ball Daima having the characters all become kids or youths?

I agree the Tournament of Power had a better art style. I enjoy Gooku and Vegeta being mentors and the Girl Saiyans like Caulifa:

Kid Vegeta!!!

I was not expecting to see grown up Goku and company. This gives me Dragon Ball GT vibes, Goku in GT got turned into a kid, and I wonder if the same is gonna happen to him again and the reat of his friends? I would love that because GT is my favorite Dragon Ball, Z being a close second.
