Oracle Of Seasons/Ages Do the Dodongos Qualify As a "race" Now? How About Other Animals?

So Dimitri is a Dodongo that can talk and is friendly, Link can ride on his back.

Does that mean the Dodongos are now a "race" on par with the Zoras and Gorons? Sure OoX are dveloped by Capcom, but they're considered "canon".

But this question leads to more questions.... what about the other animal companions in OoZ? The animals in LA maybe? OH that was a dream, my bad.

How about the cows in OoT? They talk if you play Epona's song, so are the cows a race?

What is a race even?

I think "Race", in terms of Zelda, refers to a tribe etc. With tribes being a group of intelligent beings I don't think Dodongos qualify as being in the same category as races within this series given the fact that 99% of them are just basic enemies.
