Yeah, there was a topic based on this same video a while back, but the thread is so far down, I guess we can keep this one open for now.
I'll admit it, I'm not a fan of Game Theory at all. His voice grates on me, and I find his "theories" to be so outlandish and lacking evidence, that I just get more frustrated that entertained watching him. He lacks in-depth knowledge of many of the games he theorizes on, and ends up just taking painfully obvious tidbits that are common trivia and twisting them into some kind of incoherent line of thought that I don't understand at all. His Mega Man video concerning if Dr Light was the true villain of the franchise just kind of pissed me off, as it's obvious that everything Light did was a precaution against Wiley abusing Robots/Reploids for his own interests across the original and X series. This "Link is Dead" reeks of click-bate, and as someone who's actually FAMILIAR with the game and timeline, I think this theory is bogus and has little to nothing backing it up at all, especially considering that Link's decedents are clearly the protagonists of games further along the Child Timeline.

*smacks forehead* I swear some people don't even google anymore. The game manual states that is is a PARALLEL DIMENSION. He isn't dead at all. Just because a couple of people die and skull kid goes psycho people assume link died. Yeesh i hate game theory that guy is like a tick that won't burn off at all.

Of course Link's not dead in MM. TP Link is his confirmed DESCENDANT, meaning he couldn't have died as young as he was in MM. This episode of Game Theory has never impressed me, as it has this huge hole in it. I mean, I usually like MatPat and his videos, but he really should've looked into more of the Zelda canon for this one.

Game Theory has always stuck me as a channel that thinks "What type of crazy theory will get me the most views?" and THEN tries to scrape up even the tiniest bit of "evidence" he can find so he can warp it into his theory. It may be novel to others, but I just think it's plain annoying, maybe because many of the theories he comes up with are on topics I'm very familiar with, so I can see right through the crap he's putting forth.

To be fair i can understand the steve thing but at the same time that has no relevance to the link is dead theory. Chugga named Steve, Steve for the simple exponent that steve was trying to carry a monster back to his onion on his own and he was originally the lamest of the pikmin (or so he thought) and then became a trooper. There is no basis of fact it was just chugga being well chugga naming a nameless character for a trait he liked. Where as game theory do nothing but twist true theories and then scrape up the smallest piece of evidence to try and support that theory.

Wow thank goodness for you guys! This theory is so incredibly wrong! I went on three other Zelda forums and people actually believed this crap! I mentioned a few of the points on this thread, but somehow they still didn't get it! Good to know that there are some more rational thinkers that love Zelda!
