I think I would've chosen mute. If I was deaf or blind I wouldn't be able to enjoy many of my favorite pasttimes. Being mute would surely challenge other aspects of my life, like being "heard", but I'm a quick writer, so I could have managed by some sort of text to speech tool, as well as body language, sign language for people who'd be able to understand that, plus there are a myriad of other tools I could use (I've worked with people with speach impediments, so I've seen some of these tools in action).
The way I see it, deaf and blind are the hardest because they impact the way you get information, while being mute impacts how you give information. Yet if you are mute or have some other speach impediment, the person you are communicating with can do a lot of the speaking for you. They can ask questions to clarify where you can nod, shake your head or in other ways visually confirm or correct them.
