Ganon, the Master Sword, and the Triforce were considered to be the three main important things in regards to timeline placement before HH/ZE. I thought that I would examine these three in regards to the placement for BotW.
Ganon:
AT:
Pre-OoT: Ganon is born to the Gerudo.
OoT- Ganon gains the trust of the king. Ganon breaks into the Sacred Realm, obtaining the Triforce of Power. He rules Hyrule for seven years. Is defeated and sealed by the HoT.
TWW BS-Ganon returns and the gods flood Hyrule, sealing him.
TWW-The seal of the gods break, and Ganon comes to the Great Sea searching for long eared girls in search of the Triforce of Wisdom. In the end he reunifies the entire Triforce, and is defeated by the HoW.
CT:
Pre-OoT: Ganon is born to the Gerudo.
OoT: Ganon is stopped before he can invade Hyrule thanks to the knowledge of the HoT, who returned to the past.
TP BS: Ganon is sent to the Twilight Realm after his execution fails.
TP: Ganon returns to Hyrule thanks to the help of Zant. Ganon is killed by the hero.
Pre-FSA: Ganon is reincarnated to the Gerudo.
FSA: Ganon is sealed in the FS by the hero after getting the trident and spreading darkness over Hyrule.
DT:
Pre-OoT: Ganon is born to the Gerudo.
OoT: Ganon gains the trust of the king. Ganon breaks into the Sacred Realm, obtaining the Triforce of Power. He rules Hyrule for seven years. Defeats the HoT, and is sealed in the SR by the sages with the complete Triforce.
Imprisoning War: Ganon's minions pour into Hyrule from the entrance of the SR. The sages seal the entrance to halt Ganon's attack.
ALttP: Ganon uses a bunshin, Agahnim, to partly leave the SR. He once again gains the trust of the king, and kills him. Link rescues the seven maidens, and destroys Ganon in the SR before he can fully leave.
OoX-Ganon is revived by Twinrova. Since it went awry, he is now a mindless beast. However, he is still capable of limited speech. He's destroyed by Link.
ALBW BS: Ganon is revived once again, and tries to take the Triforce again. Ganon is defeated and sealed ''in darkness'' with the ToP.
ALBW: Ganon is revived by Yuga, and no longer seems to be capable of speech. Merges with him and is destroyed again.
LoZ: Is revived and takes the ToP, and is said to be a mindless beast. Dies again.
Now, let's examine the facts: BotW Ganon is mindless like DT Ganon as confirmed by Creating a Champion, and has been defeated and revived many times. In both the AT and CT, Ganondorf remains an intelligent human, aside from the new one in FSA, who is irrelevant since BotW implies and CaC confirms that we're dealing with Ganondorf I. And Ganon is eradicated along with Hyrule in the AT. And Ganon has been defeated and revived more times in the DT than any other timeline.

SS: Link discovers the Triforce, and uses it to wish Demise dead in the present. After Demise is defeated in the past, the Triforce is secreted away in the Sacred Realm.
Era of Chaos: People fight wars over the Triforce. Rauru and the sages end the bloodshed by creating the ToT over the entrance to the SR, sealing it.
OoT: Ganondorf breaks in and touches the Triforce, splitting it. Power remains with Ganon, Wisdom goes to Zelda, and Link keeps Courage until he travels back to his own time at the end, which causes the ToC to split into eight shards.
TWW: Ganondorf reunites the Triforce, which flies away, perhaps returning to the Sacred Realm.
CT:
Creation: The Triforce is created by the golden goddesses, and left in Hylia's hands.
SS: Link discovers the Triforce, and uses it to wish Demise dead in the present. After Demise is defeated in the past, the Triforce is secreted away in the Sacred Realm.

FSA: Somehow in the hands of the Royal Family.

SS: Link discovers the Triforce, and uses it to wish Demise dead in the present. After Demise is defeated in the past, the Triforce is secreted away in the Sacred Realm.

ALttP: The Triforce remains in the DW until the end, when Link obtains it and brings it to Hyrule.
OoX: The Triforce is in the hands of the Royal Family.
ALBW BS: The Triforce is split between the hero, the princess, and Ganon.
ALBW: The Triforce is reunited and placed in the hands of the Royal Family, leading to the Golden Age.
Era of Decline: Triforce of Courage hidden in the Great Palace. Ganon tries to steal the other two pieces, but only obtains Power. He is destroyed by Link. Link obtains all three pieces, reunited the Triforce once again and returning it to the Royal Family, even awakening Zelda I.
So, the bottom line here is that the Triforce is reunited and in the hands of the Royal Family in BotW, but not in the AT. This works in favour of both the CT and DT, though.
Now, the Master Sword:
AT:
SS: Link and Zelda forge the Goddess Sword into the Master Sword. It is layed to rest in the Sealed Temple, which becomes the Temple of Time seen in OoT.
OoT: The HoT obtains the MS in the ToT for his adventure.
TWW: The MS is hidden in Hyrule Castle after the HoT vanishes. It is eradicated at the end.
CT:
SS: Link and Zelda forge the Goddess Sword into the Master Sword. It is layed to rest in the Sealed Temple, which becomes the Temple of Time seen in OoT.
TP: The hero obtains the MS in the ToT for his adventure, which is now in a forest.
DT:
SS: Link and Zelda forge the Goddess Sword into the Master Sword. It is layed to rest in the Sealed Temple, which becomes the Temple of Time seen in OoT.
OoT: The HoT obtains the MS in the ToT for his adventure.
ALttP: The MS is located in a forest and outside of the ToT.
ALBW: Same as ALttP.
Initially, it seems like BotW fits both the CT and DT here. But when you consider the fact that the ToT exists outside of the forest in BotW, and that the MS is in the forest without it, it fits the DT much better.
So to conclude:
None of these things work out well in the AT if we place BotW there.
Only one works if we place BotW in the CT.
And all three work out in the DT.

Only one works if we place BotW in the CT.
And all three work out in the DT.
