The guy on top of Lake Hylia in TP that you cannonball up to for the cucoo game, he looks like a real freak.

Think about it, he never speaks, spends most of the time just blankly staring ahead, he enters people's homes and places of business uninvited, he roots around in their stuff, breaks their crockery with no sign of remorse or any emotion, he often runs about town with a lethal weapon drawn, he harasses everyone he meets and even shows cruelty to animals on a frequent basis, he lifts almost every object over his head, he never stays still, he regularly plants explosive devices in arbitrary places, he often wears large and heavy boots that impede his ability to walk and even uses these to submerge himself fully in deep water, he takes the hearts of those he kills and consumes them, he hardly ever changes his clothes and when he does it's usually into the same clothes just in a different colour, he talks to his boat, he traps fairies in bottles and often drinks mystical potions, he always has lots of money but no evident source of income, he holds his sword out in front of himself when sprinting so as to deliberately harm people who get in his way, he rolls and side-steps more than he walks, he never plays more than 6 notes of any song, he spends a lot of time alone in the woods, he goes swimming in public waterways and he talks to his hat.
Tingle is nothing more than an eccentric business man. Link is a way bigger freak than him.

Aside from that, I've never thought about it that way. In retrospect, I guess Link is kind of a freak... :yes:

Probably either the happy mask salesman or the lakeside scientist
HMS gives me the vibe that he'll snap at any moment and break your neck....

The better question might be...Who isn't a freak in Zelda?
That's one thing I love about Zelda, you can always count on some unique, memorable and fascinating characters.
If I had to pick it would probably be Tingle. Especially WW Tingle with the skulls in his prison cell and slaves on his island...and the Tingle Tower :O
HMS was a pretty creepy, crazy guy himself. The numerous theory threads about him is standing proof of that.
