Marvel Studios and Disney's superhero extravaganza 'Avengers: Endgame' has surpassed 'Avatar' to become the top-grossing film of all time worldwide, not adjusted for inflation.

It's about time another movie topped Avatar. Yes, it needed a rerelease with some bonus footage added, but I think it's great that a movie people will actually remember in a decade is now the highest earner ever.

A job well done, and deserved for the most part, but Avatar 2-4 is just right around the corner so it could steal the crown right back. ...And frankly, this might be the best time to bow out of the MCU because after such great heights it can only go down from here, whether it be in scope, quality, or...politics *urk*. I suppose that the successfully proven formula (canny one-liners = one-note characters) can only be beaten out so many times before it starts to grow stale, but we'll see. Upcoming news of the cinematic franchise continues to unfold as I type, but it's mostly just more of the same.
