I first thought she just looked young... But apparently she is really just 10 years old... Maybe both her parents died and left her with a huge sum of money and now she sees these bugs as her family?

Dunno. Do know that I like her as a character.

1. When you are little you do everything based on imagination.
2. I'm assuming she is an orphan, maybe that is why she needs the bugs, to fulfill the spot where her parents love should be with the love of the bugs.
3. She is a princess, perhaps she got an inheritance when her parents passed away, assuming she is an orphan.

Maybe she was orphaned off of a really rich family and just dosen't know her parents are dead. she thereby goes into her parents life savings and gives them to a random person that gives her bugs

I think that she is an orphan, i think that her parents were probably very rich and wealthy and she inherited all the money. She is young and does not think much of the money she has so she gives it away.
