What are some things that always make shows/books/movies great? What attracts you to new shows? Whether certain character types, or plots, or maybe certain writing or filming, what makes your favorite media good to you?

I'm not overly fond of the horror genre. It's rather disappointing really. I'm not bragging or anything but it takes a lot to scare me... in fiction anyway. I don't know if it's just harder for me to suspend my disbelief for horror fiction to affect me or if I'm just wise to the horror genre's...

What are your opinions on the work and influence of George A. Romero (May he rest in peace)? He directed such films as Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Creepshow, and a ton of others. He has influenced both movie and game makers, mostly in the zombie sub-genre of horror.
