Just finished the last wave. It was pretty alright. Bowser Castle surprised me with just how good of a remake it was. Most of the SNES and GBA tracks here have sucked.
I wouldn’t go that far. It was a good deal, don’t get me wrong, but at the end of the day it’s still just 95% repackaged...
Can’t help but feel disappointed in this last one. I get that DK Mountain and Rainbow Road Wii are popular tracks, but they were never ones that I personally grew up with so I have a hard time caring for it. Bowsers Castle 3 and Daisy Circuit are kinda lame additions but I get why they’re here...
Koopa Cape and Daisy Cruiser are cool I guess, but honestly the returning courses have interested be less and less each time. I can’t imagine that Airship Fortress won’t be in the final wave, and that’s pretty much the only part of this I really have to look forward to.
I wasn’t paying attention to the MK8DX segment for obvious reasons, but after rewatching it I think its nice that they’re finally adding new characters, even if I never cared for Birdo. Maybe some new non-Mario characters will be added too.
Wave 3 is alright, definitely better than the 1st wave, maybe on par with the 2nd.
London Loop-
The worst “city” themed course so far. Nothing about this course is interesting. Sure, you might see a few iconic landmarks here and there, but that’s about as far as they go with it. Cool I can see...
After playing them, yeah this is still just ok. Kalamari Desert had a really cool change made, Waluigi Pinball is as fun as always, and the city-based tour courses are pretty good too.
Sky High Sunday is… ok. The course layout is kinda boring, especially since there doesn’t seem to really be a...
Well yeah, there are certainly more popular tracks, but none of them are nearly as popular as the 2 I mentioned.
Ok but, why Mario Circuit 3 specifically? If you really want to have another Super Mario Kart track why not one that isn’t already so similar to an already included track?
Well I’ll be damned. They actually look halfway decent now. Maybe the first wave was just a fluke.
I’m really surprised that they’re doing Waluigi Pinball so early. That and Coconut Mall are by far the 2 most popular tracks in the series, and Nintendo clearly knows this as they’ve used both of...
So I my first impressions from the direct were absolutely correct. Almost all of these are terrible. Granted, 48 tracks for 25 bucks is a pretty great deal no matter what the quality of said tracks are, depending on who you ask, but I still think that these courses deserve far better. Nearly all...
As cool as this is, I’m a little disappointed that all the DLC is effectively going to be is remakes of previous courses with very little new.
Retro tracks are already very hit or miss, with a good chunk of the ones in every game they’re in feeling very dated.
Also, the courses look clean…...
