    Heights of LoZ characters?

Okay, trying this again with a different source... Let's say the models in BotW are off and this following one is accurate as to the actual heights of the champions: Assuming Urbosa is the Gerudo standard of eight feet, that puts Link at... 7'6" and Zelda at 7 feet. I am beginning to think...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

Many of us figured the same, until we started finding in-game evidence that says otherwise. It appears the average Hyrulian height is around 5 feet, not 5'7". This probably explains the unusual designs of many of their weapons; they're creating armor and weaponry for people who are superhumanly...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

Something to note: We can't necessarily trust official sources as being accurate for character heights, so just because it's stated in a Nintendo product as true doesn't mean it is. For example, the height of Samus Aran. According to the Super Metroid player's guide, her personal height is...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

Yeah, I'm pretty certain Link is superhuman in his physical capabilities. He may be shorter than an average human, but he more than makes up for that in both skill honed through millennia and pure physical capacity. He would probably be a small military force by himself in modern times.

    Heights of LoZ characters?

Link isn't human, though. And from what we've seen of the entire Zelda series, each humanoid race follows their own proportion rules, even when closely-enough related to another species to allow for easy interbreeding. And for the most part, they appear to be all truebreeding species; they don't...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

The one I found for TP Zelda was a F4F figurine of 15 inches at 1/4 scale, putting Zelda herself at an even 5 feet in the game. Link's in-game appearance is the same height as her's, so likely he's the same height.

    Heights of LoZ characters?

I checked. He got those figurines from a post made on here that no longer exists. We cannot say his information is accurate because it is second-hand. And, keep in mind that figurine is not standing straight, but in a semi-crouched position. Thus, why I figured he would be about 5 feet at full...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

We have no idea if those figurines are to scale or not. And I can't find much information about them. Unless we have more information, my best guess is that they are a useless measurement aid. Edit: I did find a scale for Link in SS! This figurine is, when converted, approximately 4'6.6" with...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

That's just it: We can't judge Link's height just by looking at his body proportions. For example, this is Link in-game: This is pretty average for a human in-game: Even with both being the same height, you're going to notice obvious physiological differences, especially in height compared...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

Can we please stop using the proportion standards that apply to Homo sapiens sapiens for someone who isn't a member of that species? Even the games themselves, when having Hylians and Humans side-by-side, demonstrate Hylians have a different set of proportion rules than Humans do. Link isn't a...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

And we're back to the cycle of "and here's this Hylian who has red eyes..." that showed up earlier, as well as the fact that not even the only Sheikah who is consistent in games always has red eyes. In fact. if you see her in the LoZ and AoL artwork, Impa definitely doesn't have red eyes. Impa...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

Save that they have no exclusive homeland, no leader in a position of authority, are not negotiated with, and don't even get to pilot a Divine Beast. What makes you think that magical race survived? The idea hinges on the possibility the original Sheikah, the ones who are mentioned in SS, are...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

What is interesting to note is that whenever Sheikah are mentioned as a group, they are usually noted for their magic; OoT, TP, and BotW all make this and their connection to the Royal Family a big part of who the Sheikah are. But, that is the key thing to remember: The Sheikah were magical...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

Or she has red eyes because it's Sheikah magic she's using as part of her disguise. This runs across a problem: We have no evidence Sheikah naturally have red eyes either, and plenty of evidence from BotW (nearly every Sheikah in the game) suggests they don't. We know Impa usually has red...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

Which still doesn't explain how Sheik, who is a Hylian, has the Sheikah red eyes. You can see that in this artwork here. Basically, the problem with this theory is that the red eye trait also shows up in non-Sheikah. If it were a Sheikah-specific racial trait, it wouldn't. However, note that...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

1 would be easily attributed to cross-breeding with Hylians if they were Hylians. Gerudo cross-breed with Hylians as well and don't show the same level of physical change. 2. I'm thinking it's just something specific to Sheikah magic, probably related to their original role being passed down in...
  17. Kerest

    Heights of LoZ characters?

That runs into two problems: 1. In BotW, not all Sheikah have red eyes; quite a few don't. Examples from BotW include Paya and Impa. 2. Zelda, a Hylian, had the red eyes while disguised as Sheik in OoT. If anything, the red eyes seem to be a divine blessing or magical mark, not an actual...

NoJ stated BotW is canon. So it's canon.

    Heights of LoZ characters?

This is contradicted by BotW, in which it shows a number of races having their own magic that Link can learn. ALttP and AoL both show magic developed by what was obviously the Hylians that Link manages to acquire (Link learns quite a bit of magic in AoL). It seems to be more a case of Link can't...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

Pretty much, what SMS said. By all evidence presented in the series, post-SS Sheikah are just a tribe of Hylians. It's entirely possible the pre-SS Sheikah are actually the original race from which Hylians were spawned. So, I didn't include them simply because I don't see any evidence they are...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

I think the only one of those species that's actually human are the Gerudo. The human species in Hyrule seem to be Hylians, Humans, and Gerudo.
  22. Kerest

    Heights of LoZ characters?

That puts Link in BotW at around 5 feet in height at max. Zelda is probably around 4'6", using a rough guess. Okay, apparently, it's just canon that the non-Gerudo human species in Hyrule are just incredibly short.

    Heights of LoZ characters?

I just want to know if there has been a significant height decrease. We know there has been from OoT to TP, the question is if it is consistent with history prior to it. Trying to get a feel for exactly what is going on with Hyrulians and their loss of height. Yeah, we did. I kinda pointed it...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

If that is going by the current Smash game, then we have the height of BotW Link. This definitely shows that Link changes height between incarnations.
  25. Kerest

    Heights of LoZ characters?

Link being that short would explain why the shield is so big. Is there a way of determining how tall Link was in SS and BotW? Because I suspect that Hylians shrunk in size between SS and OoT, but by the time of BotW had regained normal height.
  26. Kerest

    Heights of LoZ characters?

Simple: People in real life can be that short while being adults. Just that whatever happened between OoT and TP, it was cataclysmic enough in how it affected Hyrulians that they suffered stunted growth; this has happened in real life before. Have a few generations of stunted growth and you can...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

Here's the problem with the idea the TP Ganon grew: There's evidence it never happened. This link shows an approximate comparison of TP Link to Ganon using Ganon's canon height. This puts Link at a solid 4'6". In addition, Ganon's First 4 Figures figurine stands at 23 inches, indicating a...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

The height of the Hero of Time is irrelevant to the height of the Hero of Twilight. Looking across the games, the heights of Link and Zelda both change from incarnation to incarnation. Also, historically, most swordsmen in real life didn't reach 5'7". A swordsman who was six feet tended to be...

Which makes Ganon around 8.5 to 9 feet. I think the Hero's Shade is shorter than that.

    Heights of LoZ characters?

It works very well. Compare the height difference between OoT Link and OoT Zelda to the one between BotW Link and BotW; the height difference is greater in BotW, meaning that either Link in that game is taller or Zelda is shorter. And IIRC, in Skyward Sword Link and Zelda are the same height...

    Heights of LoZ characters?

It could be that Link in-game just hasn't had his final, adult-height growth spurt. I know he's the same height as Zelda in that game, when she's usually shorter (though, by how much varies); that suggest he's not in his adult height yet, so under 5 feet is perfectly possible.
  33. Kerest

    Heights of LoZ characters?

Link and Zelda both vary in height from game to game. So, I think it's likely their official height is just a shrug.
