Aside from all the Zelda games, get Metroid and Super Metroid. I'd also recommend Paper Mario if you never had a chance to play that.

I'd recommend Fallout 3 and Red Dead Redemption, which are fairly recent.

I'd actually recommend the Wii version of Okami. It doesn't have quite the same neat paper look to it, but the drawing is much easier. Also, the Wii version is still in retail, which is a bonus.
