Gurren Lagann: The Lights in the Sky are Stars - 9/10 The beginning fight against Lord Genome is heavily truncated compared to the original, but the final fight is heavily expanded upon so it's an adequate tradeoff. The animation is absolutely stunning.

Dang, I'm surprised by this. I think it does an excellent job balancing action and philosophy, but to each their own.

Gurren Lagann: Childhood's End - 9/10 This was a nice retelling of almost the entire first part of Gurren Lagann. The important death and the final battle were animated beautifully, but I wish so much content hadn't been cut from the middle, especially with respect to Rossiu.

Great Pretender Razbliuto - 8/10 A great epilogue to the 2020 series with a focus on Dorothy this time around. There were some parts that felt too slow, but it was nice seeing certain characters cameo and there were quite a few action packed encounters.

Millennium Actress - 10/10 Satoshi kon once again does an excellent job of weaving between what's happening in real life and fantasy as they start to blend in with each other.

The Boy and the Heron - 7/10 The visuals and music are great, but the story is all over the place. The entire concept of leaping between worlds felt half baked and Mahito had very little agency in the movie.

Beetlejuice - 6/10 Finally got around to seeing this movie that I've wanted to see since childhood, and it was underwhelming. I expected it to be scarier. At least it has quite a few funny parts. But the CGI has aged poorly.

The Equalizer 3 - 9/10 The third installment is the most emotional one by far, and it does so in a very respectful way. The fighting reminds me more of the first movie in that Denzel Washington is very terrifying to his foes.

The Equalizer 2 - 8/10 I enjoyed the action in this one a lot more than in the first one even if it didn't have quite as climactic a final fight. The supporting character death in this movie really elevated the stakes.
