I just wanna make octorok takoyaki, Nintendo. Please, if we can't eat the other monsters, at least let us eat the octoroks. Do it for the memes.

    VikzeLink's Weekly Sunday Poll 604!

As much as I love WW, it'd be funny to see MC Link as a Stalfos, training one of his spiritual successors. Bonus points if the current Link asks about how he dealt with Ganon, and MC Link is just like, "Ganon? Who's that?? WHAT ABOUT VAATI, IS HE STILL SEALED IN THE FOUR SWORD?!!?" Even more...

    Where is the Triforce?

Hmmm, that may be a bit spoiler-y to answer, but if you don't mind spoilers for a pretty big plot point in Minish Cap (though honestly it's pretty easy to figure out after just a little while into the story), then Basically, the premise is that this happened to the whole Triforce itself after...

    Favorite game other than Zelda?

Other than Zelda, for game series overall, I love Boktai and Golden Sun (and Touhou, even though I suck at bullet hell games). For individual games, Okami. I've played it over and over again, and it's always a good time.
  7. Mima_sama

Do you typically keep your starter throughout?

I've never been able to bring myself to box my starters. I'm far too attached to them.
  8. Mima_sama

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

Night owl, most definitely. Even when I was a wee little bab, I had trouble sleeping at night and staying awake during the day. Nowadays, I generally sleep from 2AM to 10AM.

    Where is the Triforce?

I heve this theory that a little more than 10,000 years before BotW/TotK, the kingdom of Hyrule was completely destroyed, but then was re-founded later by Rauru and Sonia (importantly, she is referred to as being a Hyrulean before she married Rauru, so the name of the land clearly lived on)...

    Favorite/Least Favorite Dungeons

Favorite: The Earth Temple (WW). It's funny, because it used to scare the heck outta me when I was a kid, but now that I'm older, I really appreciate its creepy atmosphere. The floormasters are annoying at first when you don't know how to deal with them, but after you do? Genuinely a fun...

Tears of the Kingdom What Are You Doing in TotK?

Started a second run. I've beaten the Wind Temple already, but instead of going right to the next temple like I did last time, I'm gonna complete as many of the Rito Village sidequests as I can, as well as waking at least two great fairies.

Which Zelda games show the best roles for Princess Zelda?

In Skyward Sword, she's actually busy evading and escaping Ghirahim (with Impa's help), purifying herself in the springs, and basically leading Link around to where he needs to be, until she seals herself in that crystal to keep the Imprisoned sealed. She's only ever in real mortal peril when...

Tears of the Kingdom Rank the [REDACTED] (Story Spoilers)

    1. Tulin. His ability is really useful for travel, and in combat, those headshots he pulls off have saved my bacon more than once. 2. Mineru. I don't use her that much, admittedly, but I do appreciate how versatile she is, and how she makes traversing the depths pretty easy. Bonus points for...

Tears of the Kingdom And? Did you (finally) beat him?

I had a lot of fun beating up Master Kohga many, many times. I know he's evil, but he's just so goofy and incompetent that I can't help but like him. He's like the Team Rocket of Zelda. I hope he appears in the next game.

Build the Roster for a hypothetical Zelda fighting game.

Seconding Vaati, he'd have a lot of versatility with his moveset (wind, lightning, turning people to stone, not to mention that he can fight with a sword). Link's Grandma would be a good joke character, she could throw soup at people and force them to wear clothing that is much too warm for a...

what is the worst zelda boss ever

The Imprisoned, hands down. The first fight with him is fine, but having to fight him 3 times with very little variation other than a speed increase? At least with Ghirahim, there's some skill involved-- the Imprisoned is just tedious. I also hate fighting the Imprisoned in HW, he's a damage...

The Nintendo Direct News And Discussion Thread

To be honest, I wasn't expecting anything Zelda-related in this direct (it's only been like, a month since TotK released, it took 3 months for them to announce/release the Master Trials DLC), so the amiibos were a surprise. I am looking forward to SMRPG and that Princess Peach game, as well as...

Something interesting to note: as I was going through different Cap/Tunic combinations, I noticed that the green in the Wild set is almost an exact color match for the green in the Sky set. It might even be the exact same shade of green, it's hard to tell if there's any difference at all...

Tears of the Kingdom Which Dungeon Boss did you Love/Hate? [SPOILERS]

I really loved the fight against Queen Gibdo. While she did kick my butt at first, I slowly learned her patterns and was able to take her down fairly easily after that. I also really liked using my Mirror Shield to stun her. Colgera was another good one-- very easy, yes, but skydiving through...

Tears of the Kingdom Rank The Dungeons

    1. Lightning Temple- This felt the most like a traditional Zelda dungeon to me, and its gimmick was also the most fun (imo). Really loved the light puzzles and the overall atmosphere. It makes good use of Riju's ability, and it was fun beating Queen Gibdo's face in. She was a challenge, and I...

    VikzeLink's Weekly Sunday Poll 567!

The Title Screen Theme is really iconic. I love the Overworld theme, but the slower pace of the Title Screen arrangement makes it feel more... epic? Fantastical? Something like that.

I'd be ok with 3D Zelda games being like BOTW if we got good 2D Zelda games

ALBW was 10 years ago??? Now I feel old... I'd be ok with more 2D Zeldas being "classic" styled games. What I really want right now, though, is a Link's-Awakening-Switch style remake for the Oracles games. Or Minish Cap. Or both! Both is good.

I just realized how Nintendo is probably going to give us TWW and TP on the Switch...

I'd love a WWHD port on the Switch, but with less bloom, and maybe something to replace the Tingle Tuner/Bottle since both are now obsolete. Sadly, I think they're probably gonna try the NSO route... I hope not, but knowing how Nintendo is these days, I'm not holding my breath. In the meantime...

Tears of the Kingdom Favorite Fuse materials?

Now that we've all had some time to play around with the game's fuse mechanic, what are some of y'all's favorite materials to use in fusion, and why? For me, in terms of fusing with weapons, it's Silver Lizalfos horns because they look like scythes and that's just really cool to me. It also...

Tears of the Kingdom Spoilers - Regional Phenomena Order

I went with Purah's recommendation of Rito, Goron, Zora, and Gerudo. It felt like the difficulty scaled really nicely that way. Next run, I may do a different order (but still Rito first because Tulin's ability is hella useful for traversing the sky).

    Best Direct Sequels in Gaming

Both sequels to Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand are absolutely fantastic games and expand upon the story from the first game. It's a shame we never got 3 overseas, but there is a fan-translation.

I mean, yes, it is conjecture. Nowhere did I say that's what definitively happened-- I merely offered up a possible explanation. The only people who really know what's going on with the timeline are at Nintendo (and they're probably all laughing). And yeah, there are multiple sky civilizations...
  31. Mima_sama

I think I can fix the timeline so that the new revelations in TotK do not contradict the lore of the past games.

This is similar to what I've been thinking. I think the Kingdom of Hyrule disappears because all three main timelines merge back together somehow, but the land of Hyrule still remains, and its people are thus called Hyruleans (example: Sonia is not a Zonai, and is referred to by Ganondorf as a...

Tears of the Kingdom What Are You Doing in TotK?

I finished the story of the game! Now it is time to finish all of the side quests, finish the Hyrule Compendium, and maybe even find and upgrade all of the armor. I'm not going to 100% it though, that would be madness. 900+ Korok seeds? No thank you, I'll just find enough to max out my weapon...

Tears of the Kingdom What Are You Doing in TotK?

I generally don't use wagons because of how hard they are to control, but it helps to have a horse with a strong "pull" stat. For the Lurelin logs, I didn't think to use any sort of vehicle (temporarily forgot that was a thing I could do), I just went up to the area above the village that had...

Spoiler This boss's phase two was unbelievably bad [gerudo dungeon spoilers]

I didn't have any trouble with the queen's second phase, but that's because I fused a mirror to my shield so I was able to just reflect the light back at her to stun her. Still, it was handy to have an electrified weapon, too.

    Predictions for Game Structure

Ok, hear me out, Temple of the Ocean King 2: Electric Boogaloo All joking aside, I think we might be seeing a return of more "traditional" Zelda dungeons, in addition to some time-travel shenanigans (through memories or just straight up time-travel, which this series is no stranger to). I...

My first Zelda was Oracle of Seasons, and I dabbled briefly with OoT and MM at a friend's house, but what actually got me into the series was Wind Waker. Working on completing Four Swords: Anniversary Edition. Whoever decided that the threshold for obtaining the Hero's keys should be 5000 rupees is a sadist. I did it! I got them all! But it was extremely tedious. Now I just have to complete the Hero's Trial! (:

Wild Tears of the Kingdom guesses

Hmm, it would certainly be interesting. Perhaps we'll see other villains from Hyrule's past, like Vaati or Ghirahim, or maybe even some of Ganondorf's old underlings like Onox, Veran, Zant, or Agahnim? Ganondorf seems to be going all-out in his assault on Hyrule, so it'd make sense if he...
