Lazy is a bit harsh for them but nothing wrong with calling certain devs lazy. I don't really care. If they're charging this much for a port no other company would with this little effort. I'm just saying they could and should have done a lot more.
Souls at its core is combat driven. Its not comparable to Zelda in any way. The side quests aren't side quests they're optional things in relation to stat padding, the villages are just there as a background tool and the items aren't story focused items like in Zelda. ITs not like you're...
Wow I must be obsessed.
Over the last 20 years I've probably beaten all forms of OoT(ports and remasters) from start to finish...not lying. Near 30 times+. Maybe more actually. I replayed it 20 odd times on N64. I just loved that game so much I kept playing it start to finish tried to speed...
Never finished the Wii version. First time in history I had never finished a Zelda game. I had a huge amount of problems with it. Particularly the last 3-4 hours being a torturous slog. Not just controls. In fact, the controls were the least of my issues. I had more issues with controls this...
yeah its incredibly easy if you know what to do. But the boss fight itself is just incredibly badly designed and repetitive. Its one of the least fun boss fights in any 3D zelda game. And they force you to do it 3 times.
Wait until you get to finding the music mini game.
You say unique but there's nothing really unique about SS if played with button controls. Also its not full motion for sword. Its 8 directional sword attacks. The full motion aspects are in the flying and controlling certain objects..and those are made redundant by the stick. So yes SS was...
Switch being a handheld has forced them to not include them in their games thank god. They know they can't get away with forced motion when they're selling switch lites.
My issues aren't that it doesn't work. It does. Its fine. But I'm saying i'd never want to play another Zelda game with them. I just hate how they were too lazy to implement alternate controls regarding the camera. The actual sword they had no choice. The game was designed around motion. But...
Don't worry wait until you get to the last 3/4 of the game and you might change your opinion. Despite hating most of the controls the entire game I actually enjoyed my time with SS..until everything past the 2nd and the game went from "oh SSHD is actually quite good to "its still the worst 3D...
Nintendo wouldn't DARE put motion controls in BOTW2. Even the forced motion parts BOTW were ****.
As for TP...just get rid of the Wolf gameplay and have more sidequests. TP had a decent overworld...just nothing in it.
Luckily didn't encounter that glitch. But **** that Dungeon anyway. Skyward has some great dungeons but also some really bad ones. Mining facility is one of them. Awful awful dungeon.
Fun isn't the word i'd use to describe SS controls. The game can be fun sure. Not the controls. some aspects of the motion I can understand.
I guarantee you won't be playing another game on switch or any other console where you'll be using the right stick to control a sword. Its not fun at...
Those are a massive aspect of it. Zelda has villages and towns, sidequests, mini stories and items. Souls is full on action RPG. There are far more games more comparable to souls than Zelda. But souls is its own unique thing. its a game driven by its difficulty and overcoming challenges.
Zelda...
200+ Hours I put into BOTW and I think I used the horse for a grand total of 20 mins probably less. Everything about the horse was bad from controls movement and accessibility(only being able to summon one near a stable)
I put more time using the motorbike and I literally only had that at the...
They can at least fix the game easily with a patch.
Remember back in the Wii days they had to go through a ridiculous amount of nonsense to get patches through. Still remember that horrific Other M fiasco of sending in your memory cards.
Last games I bought were samurai warriors 5 for xbox and Ace attorney chronicles for switch.
I've been playing the yakuza games on gamepass. Amazing games. 0 is my fav.
Skyward sword almost certainly didn't work. Despite being in the best selling Nintendo console it was the worst selling 3d zelda game and worst received from fans. That formula was getting stale not because the formula wasn't good but because Nintendo didn't know what to do with it. Reusing and...
Meme? Are you joking or being uneducated? Link has never spoken ever. Apart from some garbage cartoons. We have plenty of speaking characters. Link is a mute and should stay that way. Thats who he is. He wouldn't be the same if he started talking.
And BOTWs voice acting was atrocious...

A souls game with open world doesn't work. Not like BOTW.
I think a semi open world can work with semi connected levels
Having said that. Eldrin ring isn't 100% souls. It's probably a mix. I mean you ride a horse. So therofre they will give you more land to roam. Before you just walked...
Botw is a much more engrossing game but would be near unplayable especially with ss camera control. It's a open world game based on exploration. Ss can get away with these controls because it's linear as hell. Even if they're a bit awkward.
And yeah ss is less inspired. The Iinear design...
The proper was referring to stuff outside of combat. Like flying and gliding and controlling beetle. Of course the sword combat isn't proper. It's just a solution they put out because they couldn't be bothered to redesign the combat.
There's so many things they could have done to make the...
Recent games I've played or playing out of 10
Scarlet Nexus - 8
Deaths Door -9
MS FLIGHT Simulator 9.5
Skyward Sword HD - 7
Ace attorney chronicles 9 so far but early in.
Samurai warriors - 7.5
I sell them if they're higher value and I have mo interest in replaying. I'm going to sell Skyward sword soon when they announced a wind water hd port.
I cant afford these games 60 bucks a pop. Especially ones that aren't worth 60 which is most nintendo game these days.
I don't think I've ever used my credit or debit for any nintendo system ever. I always get thr eshop cards if I need anything.
As long as wind water tp and metroid prime trilogy are all out for switch by then or shortly after we're all good.
But nintendo will likely charge 60 bucks for...
Theyre not worse. I've had a rant about the controls more than most but fundamentally theyre better because most of the gimmicky motion nonsense from the first game that wasn't attached to the sword has now been given proper button controls. The mini games in this are much more fun to engage...
The sky overworld would have to be packed with actual more mini islands or mini villages and have actual exploration and things to discover. Not here's a big rock with a chest on it.
Wind water had an actual overworld Ss has one main city and that's it. It's pretty pathetic.
60fps and cleaner visuals. Streamlined button controls that for the most part are better than motion. Makes mini games actually playable and fun.
This version is better in every way. Even if we take into consideration some of the motion controls for the Wilmore were a bit more consistent its...
You're absolutely right. They could have mapped controls to a B or another button+Left stick to attack. You can still use directional attacks. You don't lose anything except the ability to maybe move around and attack which isn't necessary anyhow. While also keeping the camera.
My suggestion...
BOTW can do both.
Just focus more on what Zelda was great at while keeping what BOTW is good at
Also don't focus on gimmicks. BOTW's main dungeons used the same design concept and that got old. Mix it up. We don't need to play another dungeon where were moving it around. It was fine for the...
I played AoC for a bit. Unplayable for me with the low frame rate. I will get this when a Switch Pro comes out or the next Nintendo hardware and they decide to remaster it with deserving frame rate.
Just like Hyrule Warriors on Switch.
Better Dungeons that aren't using the same gimmicks. That Vah Naboris Dungeons is just straight up bad. Awful design awful boss and just a poorly paced dungeon period. I think I ranked it as the 2nd worst Dungeon in a 3D zelda just ahead of that Wind temple in Wind Waker.
Dungeons within the...
I'm not kidding but For the first 10 hours of the game which is over 1/3 I think I used the shield 3 times. I forgot this game even had a shield at one point. Kinda made it a bit more challenging in a way but at certain parts of the game..I didn't even bother equipping one. As for Camera. I...
IT would be worse than Skyward Sword because SS has some very good main Dungeons and bosses. BOTW's main dungeons are average. I said this before but if someone played BOTW and just did Mainline story parts only it would be one of the worst 3D Zelda games. Thankfully thats like 5% of the game...
Thats an awful comparison. Spin attacks are much slower and take more effort to pull off. Plus they are used for AoE. Not Regular attacks. I was talking about The control aspect. And no is spin attacks were infinite we wouldn't be doing them all the time because its slower and more cumbersome...
Oh yeah SS has gone past TP imo. It's well above TP. Below WW HD though. But still leagues below botw oot and even majora for me.
I think you're giving SS too much credit for what is effectively a very linear game that could have been designed around not having a stamina system
And in botw...
If you haven't played it yet don't comment.
And I wasn't talking about the motion controls. I was talking about the button controls. It's very easy to do spin attacks without wanting to especially in frantic situations. Even in motion. There's no nunchuck it sjust one joycon you have to...
When the motion controls works and I'm not flying or balancing a rope or air gliding then it's absolutely the best way to play this game. Thsts not even debatable. I can't play handheld due joycon drifts. It makes it impossible to control camera properly at times.
You can't compare this games stamina to BOTW. Stamina in BOTW is integral to the game and incorporated into most things link does. You could remove stamina in SS and it would do nothing. It's just there for the sake of being there.
And people spin attack due to imprecise controls. Not...
you have recalibrate it every few minutes because theres no sensor bar. It is **** and why I quit motion about 2 hours in. Well that and the fact that anything motion related that doesn't involve your sword attacks(which work fine) is absolutely horrible.
Beat the game today. It was fine. I would put it on par with TP probably but I may change my mind when or if I replay TP on the switch(if it comes out.
All in all its a solid but majorly flawed Zelda game.
I'm just Relieved I won't have to play another game with this control scheme ever again...
I mean this version has some major advantages over Wii Version
- Full camera control even if its a bit finnicky with button controls
- 60FPS. The first ever for a 3D Zelda game. Game runs smooth as butter.
- Visually very clean and nice looking. The Wii version looked washed out, blurry and...
while I agree there should be more heart pieces and things to find in general. I disagree about the starting hearts. Having 3 hearts would have made this game very challenging for newcomers. Even as a vet and someone who struggled with the controls I died maybe more times in the first 4 hours...
I'm past half way through the game and yeah the C stick for the GC controller is the best way to use that sword. Because its a lot stiffer and has directional sections on the controller a simple flick ensues near 100% sword swing of that direction. Far FAR superior to the joycons which can be...
