I like the N64 version better for a lot of the same reasons you stated in the OP, especially being able to emulate it in high resolution and use amazing texture packs.
But a big thing for me, even on a native N64, is the lighting. OOT is much more dynamically lit on the N64, and the color...
Yeah, another big innovator. I was trying to keep it to games with somewhat similar gameplay loops / settings. But yes, San Andreas was another big milestone for freedom and possibility in gaming. GTA3 too of course.
From Zelda 1 to OOT the games were revolutionary and set standards with every release.
I would say that WW and TP were more evolutionary then revolutionary. Let me preface this by saying that I do like those games a lot, but let me take you back to the past and lets explore their context in...
Yes, definitely started in TP. Maybe the initial influence of the twilight is grotesque mutations of the Hylians. The guy with the flat top and thick arm hair in Ordon Village has got to be the worst character design of them all, and thats saying a lot.
SS was even worse. My heart sank seeing...
I bailed on Majora for now and started TP. The HD version really looks wonderful. I had my doubts from screenshots but it's definitely a significant upgrade. Im on hero mode and doing the 3 heart challenge. So far, Ive only been killed by the hawk in the village when youre a wolf, 3 times, hehehe
Way back as a young froggo in the early 90s my parents woke me up and surprised me with LTTP on my birthday. The weather that morning was really dark and stormy, so when the game started up with a similar ingame atmosphere I was totally hooked!
About 20 years later I had a similar experience...

I played through Ocarina recently with a excellent HD texture pack and effects courtesy of Dolphin, and I was so hyped by the whole thing that I made a tribute video to what remains my favorite game of all time, now further juiced up by modern technology.
Enjoy...
Snowpeak is amazing, enjoy! Yeah, other then BOTW, I think I'm looking forward most to TP. I'm doing the three heart challenge for all the games, which I think will fix one of the few issues I had with the game the last time I played it.
Haven't played all of them, but close! I recently starting a quest to playthrough the 3D Zeldas again. Beat Ocarina of Time last night, yep, still holds up. (Here's a video I made about it if you interested : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ommmSq5YeXE ) I'm curious to see if my stance on any...
Just beat Ocarina of Time last night, it still holds up as one of the greatest games of all time. Starting Majora soon, then Wind Waker, then TP, the finally BOTW : )
1. I don't know about you but I'd probably burn my medieval bacon if I saw a man turning into a wolf or vice versa. Link's quest is already hard enough as it is, he doesn't need an angry mob attacking him for what looks like some monstrous behavior.
2. Similar to WiFi, the Ooccoo needs to be in...
Skyward Sword really shook my faith in the series, but what I've played of Breath of the Wild totally redeemed it. My perfect Zelda would be somehow combining the freedom of BoTW with the kind of story pacing of Ocarina or Majora. I did two of the Divine Beasts in BotW and I thought they were...
I remember looking at the artwork of the Triforce in the Sacred Realm in the Link To the Past guidebook as kid and getting this intensely mystical feeling. I always loved that. I too would like to see it play a bigger role. But with all it's built up to be, how could the player utilize it...
So many classic dungeons to choose from.
Best:
Link to the Past:
Hyrule Castle,
Eastern Palace (The game starts off so strongly!),
Palace of Darkness (OMG, wonderful atmosphere),
Skull Woods (Same)
Ocarina of Time:
Great Deku Tree (Another masterclass in introducing the gameplay mechanics...
