When it comes to a recent game, I got really attached to Chloe Price from Life is Strange, despite her being kind of a ***** and a punk. Ghirihim is what usually comes to mind when I think of characters I just really like. He's crazy in the best way, and has an awesome boss fight at the end of SS.

Both. He is the player, and a silent protagonist, so he is an avatar in many ways. But in some games (Wind Waker and Skyward Sword, specifically) he shows lots of expression and care. So even though he is more an avatar in some games, he stands out as a full character in others.
