I always go back and play another Zelda game, taking my time to explore every nook and cranny to find all those secrets. If it's a newer game, like Skyward Sword, then I look for alternate ways to get items and defeat enemies and bosses. This can usually last for several months.

I love watching the cutscenes. Even if I have the natural option to skip it (as in the game says something like "press (c) to skip") I won't. I read everything in the 2D and 3D games.

They could put a few battles in cutscenes, but that could also lead people to say "why the heck am I not fighting the evil villain more?!?!" The evil minions have more time to try to kill you than the evil villain.
