IMO, I thought the Yuga-turning-against-Hilda scenario was too compressed to be as effective as it was supposed to be. I understand why they framed it the way they did - they want you to believe Hilda is actually out to help you until the last possible moment - but the rapid transition from...
I wound up doing
Eastern Palace
Tower of Hera
House of Gales
Dark Palace
Ice Ruins
Thieves' Hideout
Desert Palace
Turtle Rock
Skull Woods
Swamp Palace
I think the optimal order is probably
Eastern Palace
House of Gales
Tower of Hera
Skull Woods
Thieves' Town
Desert Palace
Swamp Palace...
ALBW overworld segmentation was what I thought was going to happen in SS, judging by the original trailer. Large "overworld" in Skyloft, punctuated by lots of (fairly large) floating islands that you need to fly to and explore to find diving points to various places on the surface. Early...
Take a look at this screenshot
This was taken from a retrospective sizzle reel that chronicled the development of the series from RBY (Red & Green in Japan) all the way to XY... and then a short HD clip of Lucario and Blaziken appeared. I'd say it's definitely a teaser of some of kind of...
I'd drastically prefer a sequel to Skyward Sword, set entirely on the surface during the era in which the original kingdom is founded. That's just an era of Hyrule's history that's richer and has more to explore.
I guess the fact that I've logged 2.5 hours on a demo that I've only actually played through three times is a pretty good sign. I'll have my full impressions up on GenGAME tomorrow.
That "wind-changing" scene & chime is one of the most iconic things about the game (not the mechanic, just that magic moment where Link sees the wind change direction), so I don't foresee that I'll be overjoyed by the change when playing. I'll probably use it toward the end, since it's just such...
I think the fact that they actually caved to something so cliche as a "Shadowy Triforce" is really undesirable and fan-fic like, which is largely why I was super hesitant to go down that road. However, it's nice to see they're actually expanding the Triforce lore, so I can't complain too much.
Have you played Four Swords Adventures? In that game, there's a section of the world that uses the Dark World's aesthetics - the trees with faces, the same yellowish grass and color palette. It's the area in which the Lost Woods are found, and they're apparently enveloped in shadow. That "world"...

Do you think with Wii U's Basic Set being pushed out of the market, Nintendo will be forced to introduce a price cut to keep the system competitive against Sony and Microsoft?
I'm mixed about it.
On the one hand: less wasted time making sure I'm stocked on ammunition = good thing.
On the other hand: I think it's kind of pointless to tie it to the meter. Just keep the rate at which you can fire arrows slow enough to balance the game.
Didn't really impact my...
A lot of people seem to have interpreted the upside-down dark Triforce mark in the A Link Between Worlds logo as representative of the Dark World. I think it's a bit more significant than that. I think it's a direct reference to a certain Demon King... and I think it could indicate how this game...
To which I would respond: "baw those hardcores can't handle playing with items because they don't get to show off their 'skill'"
Unfortunately, it IS a barrier to enjoying the game when you have a large enough portion of players dominating online play who are playing in a less casual fashion...
Once I learned that Pokemon had become dominated by EVs and IVs rather than just the moves and strategies, it instantly ruined the idea of competitive play for me. I'm all for playing in a kind of serious way; I'm not necessarily for systems that require people to learn certain obscure game...
Yeah, yeah, I know: "Mario games don't really have stories anyway." You're right, they really don't. But at least "Bowser has built a new airship brigade for all of his Koopalings" is at least more interesting and world expanding than "all of these new levels have appeared for Luigi." It's the...
I was expecting Nintendo to take Pokémon down the NFC route. I was not expecting them to make the figurines really hideous and cheap-looking, especially when a lot of existing Pokémon merchandise actually has pretty good quality. I suppose it matches the Pokémon Rumble aesthetic - they're...
Confirmed details:
- Caribbean setting (obviously)
- Protagonist IS Edward Kenway
- Seems to be more emphasis on dual-wielding

Nintendo can't afford another long, drawn-out development period. They're going to have to make a game that doesn't overreach its strengths and focuses on the goods so it doesn't cost them way more than it's going to bring in and can be released in a timely manner to drive the install base and...
I agree to an extent. There need to be more "open-world" style 3D field levels in future Mario games, and branching pathways in the world map need to be more substantial than they were in NSMBU, but the evidence seems clear that more people have a preference for the tighter, more linear Mario...
We now know that one of the central innovations for Zelda Wii U is going to be non-linearity. But what exactly does that mean? I did some looking over the past, and I think I've found the answer...

Countdown to Wii U: We Want YOUR Input | GenGAME
The release date of Wii U is a little over a month away, so we’re getting ready to kick off our 30-Day “Countdown to Wii U,” where we’ll be posting one exclusive article every day in the thirty days leading up to the system’s November 18...
Did you know that:
- Wii U has over 20 games due for availability on launch day?
- The Wii U GamePad has an optimal range of about 8 meters?
- Wii U single-layer optical discs hold 25GB, the same capacity as single-layer PS3 Blu-ray?
- Wii U's disc read speed is 22.5MB/s, versus 15.85MB/s for...
I've been slaving away over the last 48 hours to bring you every last drop of Wii U news from Nintendo's Wii U Preview event. I don't have time to go into specifics right now (I'm still far from finished!), so I thought I'd direct you guys to all the big news:
Overview of yesterday's...
I'm still expecting $250-300 personally, but like I said, given historical patterns and recent info, it's POSSIBLE, and that's enticing enough to consider.
Rumor: Wii U Pricing & Release Date Leaked | GenGAME
A few things to keep in mind:
- Yen product prices don't always convert nicely to dollars. Iwata's minimum price for Japan may differ from what Nintendo believes the minimum price for America should be. 3DS launched for 25,000 yen in...
Except for, you know, WII. Announced as Revolution in 2005, fully unveiled with an early lineup at E3 2006, date/price revealed in September of that year, launched in November.
Exact same scenario here. Only difference is they haven't shown Smash Bros., Zelda, or Metroid yet.
The true joy of this game is perfecting a coin run through each of the levels, and then optimizing it even further for Coin Rush. Takes a LOT of work (it took me > 200 tries to get ☆-1 down perfectly), but it's very satisfying and really rakes in the coins for the million coin count.
