Well ... we can go on and on and on with how we think the official Zelda timeline makes sense, but it all doesn't matter when Nintendo comes out with an English translation of that book, and makes further statements on the matter.
They'll probably explain the "defeated timeline" in such a way...
Well, technically, anytime you'd go back into the past you're changing the future. So, everytime Link would go back into the past for something in OoT - let's say to finish the trading sequence or get the Lens of Truth, he'd be creating a new timeline every single time. That would be silly and...
Even when the Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma says there is an official timeline, and then he turns out to be the supervising editor of the book which shows the very timeline which glitterberri has translated for us???
:hmm::hmm::hmm:
*GAME SHOW BUZZER* Wrong. It's not a hypothetical timeline.
I feel like a broken record. Here's the latest explanation for the 3 timelines:
1st timeline - Ganon's rule, the original timeline from the start of OoT ("the hero is defeated" - because he vanishes from it).
2nd timeline -...
Ganon couldn't have killed Link if Link pulled the Master the Sword out of the pedestal which created a new timeline (Link's rule). Link simply vanished from the original timeline (Ganon's rule) at that moment.
1st timeline - Ganon's rule, the original timeline from the start of OoT.
2nd...
Oh, so the moment Link pulls the Master Sword out of the pedestal for the first time in OoT, he creates an entirely new timeline. This further supports my theory that each timeline is built upon each other - Zelda creates a new timeline which was built by Link, Link creates a new timeline which...
I'm sure this isn't a coincidence. Before the Triforce was "golden":
The Triforce of Power was ruby colored.
The Triforce of Courage was emerald colored.
The Triforce of Wisdom was sapphire colored.
Each Triforce was [the color of] a different precious gemstone. There's actually 4, the...
I think the "2.5D" games would be hard for that because there are usually enemies coming at you from all directions. The 3D games tend to be a little more fair, especially since the shields in those games are better.
Star Trek is more believable since it uses real life physics and theories.
Although, Star Wars uses exciting music composed by John Williams.
I guess neither is better than the other, rather you choose which you like better.
comparison info here.
Having seen all 13 episodes of the original Zelda cartoon, I can say that they had a lot of discrepancies. I don't think that true Zelda fans appreciate this, so I think the series should stick to video games. It seems like cartoon and movie remakes always change something about the original...
No one's assuming ... it's an actual official timeline from Nintendo.
And yes, you can "lose" to Ganon by not returning to the timelime you were in. When you go into the past the change something, you change the future, creating another timeline. Link didn't return to the original timeline...
A shorter explanation:
There are three timelines because three people created these timelines - first Ganon when he enters the Sacred Realm to take over the world, then Link when he goes back in time to get the Lens of Truth, and then Zelda when she sends Link back in time to be a child again...
The cartoon really was it's own version of the Zelda world. It's kind of like how the X-Men movies are nothing like the actual comics. They're their own "universe".
Especially since there's never a mention of the Triforce of Courage in the Zelda cartoons! I guess that was all before they...
On the contrary, it was actually more popular than Zelda 1, and it was one of the most wanted Zelda games for the Wii's Virtual Console. Seems weird then that there would be barely any fans and that people would hate it.
I think there's a misconception over that new third timeline. It's not a "what-if", and it's really not about Link failing. Here is a possible explanation:
There are three timelines because three people created these timelines - first Ganon when he enters the Sacred Realm to take over the...

I think my mom just bought it (the original, LoZ) for me without knowing if I'd really like it or not. It had a shiny gold cover and it just looked exciting to play. She had no idea what the future would hold!
My favorite Zelda enemy is the Octorok because it is the first enemy you'll encounter in the first game. Who wouldn't want to go up against a giant land-dwelling octopus that spits rocks out at you? It is such a classic enemy, and it's fun to see how it's changed throughout the series. How can...
