All Zelda games are basically like that. Nothing's wrong with your system. You can play the final battle over and over and over and over, ect.

Well, according to the site walkthrough, the Death Mountain Howling Stone gives you the shield attack. By the N. Faron woods one, do you mean when the wolf is just sitting there and it attacks you? Because that one teaches you the ending blow. I hope that helped:S

I agree with JuicieJ here, they weren't written yet. Nothing can "happen" to them if they weren't in existence yet. If you're meaning what could happen to them in game, I think that they either died out or moved away.
