I don't know why I've never even considered this but it really does make sense and makes everything a lot more coherent. So are you suggesting thinking of the prologue to WW as a legend the is similar to OoT thematically but ultimately different?
I totally agree. I also think something like this results in different experiences of the game for each person. Almost no one is going to encounter everything in the same order or even everything at all and it creates a different game for each person.
Like, the inner narrative of the player...
Yes exactly! I was so disappointed that you couldn't really interact with the most of the animals in BOTW. I also would like a mechanic where you can make the wildlife more comfortable around you, maybe a certain playstyle makes wild animals less afraid of you progressively or something...
I never really thought of it for BOTW but you're totally right it almost seems made for that game. I'm one of the people who hate weapon durability and a mechanic like that might make the varied weapons interesting without it.
Sometimes a game introduces a mechanic that is really exciting and fun and then proceeds to do absolutely nothing with it. I am currently replaying Twilight Princess and I'm reminded of my gripe with the talking animals. I always thought it would be cool if the mechanic was featured more...
Twilight princess is one of my favorite games ever. This seems to be a bit unpopular but I absolutely love the beginning of the game in Ordon. It is so peaceful and I feel so at home when playing through it. More than any game it really sets up the stakes for me because the simple life they all...
Sailing in WW. I'm a sucker for water exploration. I'm terrified of large bodies of water in real life but that fear makes them incredibly fascinating to me. Plus I feel like it makes the world of WW seem very expansive.
I don't know how unpopular this is but I really want to see extensive underwater exploration. Different ecosystems underwater in different areas, diving, underwater dungeons, lots of new animals, fish and mammals. Thing like that..
I am heavily leaning toward the linear timeline but I definitely respect your view and it is the one that makes the most sense after linear in my mind. Especially factoring in the triforce wishes. I never really thought of the triforce making an otherwise impossible timesplit possible. Maybe the...
Horizon Zero Dawn was the first game I thought was really impressive as far as graphics go but I've never really cared about graphics so I don't tend to think of them as enhancing my enjoyment. I don't really play games where graphics are the selling point, that's why the game I picked is more...
This makes a lot of sense, thanks for helping me figure this stuff out. I really enjoy fantasy more when it is consistent and coherent.
One thing I have always hated about the multiverse theory for the games is that it basically makes the main conflict meaningless, as infinite conflicts are...
I vacillate between neutral and against. Most of the time they annoy me but sometimes they can set off my anxiety. I guess they just seem totally pointless to me and if you factor in animals and pollution, plus the people who suffer from mental disorders that make them frightening I believe they...
The only problem I have with the multiverse theory is that it makes the main conflict of the game basically meaningless. If there are infinite universes what are we really trying to save? Nothing really matters at that point as you might save one or two but infinite versions of you are failing...
Okay that gives me a lot to think about. I'll check out that thread, thanks. One idea that I really liked was the idea of a linear timeline. I saw you on that thread as well. How do you feel about that concept in relation to the ideas presented in this thread? Like, does the way time travel...
I was perusing another thread and started thinking about how time travel is presented to us in OoT. Why is it that Link is reverted back into a child after going back in time? Another user suggested it is his mind that is traveling back and forth but if this is true it would mean Link's body...
But if it's his mind does that mean at the end of Ocarina of time Link's adult body remains in Hyrule but in a comatose state? You're right this would make a good thread...
Really great stuff. I made an account after reading this thread because this really speaks to the quality here. Thanks for all your effort!
I have a question, I guess this applies to both linear and multiverse but why does Link revert back into a child after he travels back in time? It doesn't...
