The Equalizer - 7/10
This movie started off very slow. A lot of Denzel Washington's character, Robert, going to his job and bonding with his community. But it sets the stakes for the later confrontations when the community starts to get involved in the action. I'm not a fan of some of the...
Mario Kart Wii definitely got the most love in the DLC, and that will be cemented even more if the DLC ends on Wii Rainbow Road.
At least the Pauline vs. Funky Kong debate is settled with them both getting in.
Definitely one of the weaker Directs. A lot of news on games we already knew about.
Princess Peach Showtime seems to take some cues from Kirby with all of her abilities.
I'll finally play Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door with this remake.
And, of course, I'm excited for the final wave of...
The generation is winding down so I expect mostly smaller games and remasters. I'm hoping for Metroid Prime 2 Remastered and a full gameplay reveal for the Peach game.
Sound of Freedom - 9/10
This is a very chilling movie about child trafficking that hits hard with amazing sound design and a few quieter moments that really drive home the emotional message.
I know that some people criticize the affiliation of the creators with some conspiracy theory groups...
I'm still surprised that GTA V never came to Switch so I'll say GTA V even though it started off as a 360/PS3 game.
Other games I'd like to see:
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
Middle-earth: Shadow of War
MGS V
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Red Dead Redemption 2...
I love animated TV shows.
I think animation as a medium does a much better job of conveying fantastical powers than live action. Seeing powers creatively expressed through animation looks so much more appealing to me than wonky CGI in live action.
That said, I feel like there aren't as many...
I finished How Minds Change by David McRaney. It's a great book about finding common ground with people and exposing them to their own cognitive dissonance to change their minds.
I'm now reading Outlive by Pete Attia.
In/Spectre Season 2 - 8/10
The cases were a lot more emotional and better paced in this season. Also, the ending is an amazing song.
Neon Genesis Evangelion Death & Rebirth - 8/10
A solid recap of the show with all of the major moments showcased.
The End of Evangelion - 9/10
My favorite...
I think anything before high school counts as growing up with something for me. I feel like high school is already more preparing people for the real world and thus you have less time to get engrossed in something. Though that's another conversation about how old you need to be to experience...
I learned today that my high school graduation 10 year reunion is on Black Friday. I'm excited to attend, but I don't think that whoever planned it chose the best date.
A lot of my neighbors have been the same for many years, and I have no problem with them, and they don't make noise.
That changed a few years ago.
One of my old neighbors were this old couple named Lucy and Howard. Howard was an engineer during World War II and Lucy was a housewife. They...
It's funny to me that after two and a half years the Jujutsu Kaisen anime is finally continuing chronologically since 0 and the first arc of season 2 were prequels. It's nice that we finally get to see the main cast again.
I really enjoyed San Diego. The beaches are beautiful there.
Surprisingly enough, I also liked Memphis. It has a cozy vibe to it despite having a lot of violent crime.
The only gaming hardware I own that no longer works is my first GBA SP, but I've still kept it around. With games, I just buy a replacement. My first Super Mario Maker disc stopped working reliably, so I bought a new one.
Really happy with how Wonder is looking. Bubble and Drill look like great new power-ups and the latter is a nice nod back to Galaxy 2.
The badges are ridiculously creative. I have a feeling I'll use that vine one a lot. It's time to go full Spider-Man.
I was a little surprised about how...
I was thinking recently about how the Xbox Series X/S and Playstation 5 barely have any exclusives this year, and they haven't had too many throughout their lifetimes. Xbox saw the release of Redfall a few months back with Starfield just around the corner and Playstation had Final Fantasy XVI...
Halo is one of my favorite franchises of all time and my favorite FPS franchise by far. I especially love the first few games made by Bungie. I love the campaigns, the weapons, and the absolutely addicting multiplayer. I've never played another FPS that hooked me in quite the same way.
I...
Sadly found out today that a chemistry professor I taught for two years ago died over the summer. She was 77 years old, so not even terribly old. At least she lived an average lifespan.
My biggest desire is for online multiplayer to make an appearance. Super Mario Maker 2 and the Switch version of Super Mario 3D World are so much better with online even if it can be a bit laggy at times.
It really depends. As part of my PhD, I was a research and teaching assistant previously, so I'd say I actually worked 25-30 hours a week on top of taking my classes. Now that I'm a research assistant only, I had a bit of a lighter summer with 15-20 hour weeks and now I'm looking at multiple...
Blue Beetle - 7/10
I enjoyed the story about family at the heart of this movie. The line about one character's family having a lot of stuff and the other character's family having a lot of love hit hard. The finale was also surprising emotional with an unexpected backstory for one character...
I enjoy playing fighting games to see their roster and make my way through their story mode if there is one.
I'm not the type of player to grind a single fighting game for hours and perfect my playstyle with one to several fighters. I think that's tedious and boring.
Smash is definitely my...
