Should TotK learn from mistakes made in BotW?

I think they planned to make Divine Beasts as traditional but mobile dungeons quite indeed. If you look at the cut content, you see that they planned 10 Divine Beasts - each one had its own architecture and design. There was even one underwater. Some were supposed to have factories and bridges...

Should TotK learn from mistakes made in BotW?

There is a lot: Make the boomerang an actual item again with similar functions of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. If possible even better. Thus: Bringing up more traditional items in general, not just those being similar to the runes. Technically, Nintendo already worked for a lot of...

    BotW2 linear and gated progression

Aonuma also stated how he wants to keep the open-air formular as a standard for later Zelda games. Unless he scraped this idea somehow to make a mix out of open air and linear progression, I don't think they'll stop following the open air concept of BotW. At best they will restrict it to some...

    BotW2 linear and gated progression

What's that supposed to mean? Genuinely asking because I'm not a native speaker. I agree with absolutely everything. That's why I was disappointed that Nintendo got rid of a lot of item-progression in BotW and rather focused on stat-based-progression or just pure exploration. At least I hope...

    BotW2 linear and gated progression

It's been 5 years since the release of BotW and 3 years since the first trailer of BotW2 and we still barely know anything. I know they are taking their time to bring the best efforts in developing the sequel as much as possible but now it is July and we still have no good information. At least...

    The Minish Return?

I agree with you; I'd like to see several kingdoms outside of Hyrule and technically, Hytopia is a different kingdom which - surprisingly - isn't located in a different parallel universe. In order to keep the lore consistent, it could work like that: Naming the world/universe Hyrule while there...

    The Minish Return?

I guess they want to keep the lore of Hyrule being the world consistent. Because some sources do say that Hyrule, as the sense of the world "Hyrule", being the universe in which Link and Co are living in. It's been further supported since Termina is basically a parallel world.

    The Minish Return?

I hope so as well. Maybe we can even explore the lands beside Hyrule which we couldn't access before. Either way, they're probably developing on BotW2 ever since the last DLC of BotW, so that's a lot of time spending on this sequel.
  10. Sentinel

    The Minish Return?

Nah, they brought the Koroks back. And since BotW2 is the result of having too many cut content, there's a possibility of the Piccori appearing again.

    It's not really Ganondorf

So you think this theory is likely? Tbh, it's not that bad but rn, we cannot say much regarding Ganondorf. I guess we have to wait till mid June. Well, Ganondorf turning good means that he gets rid of his malice and tbh, BotW demonstrated the most malicious Ganon ever. It has to be a really...

    It's not really Ganondorf

Um, you can be evil whilst having many motives or actual reasons, so I don't see what speaks against this one. Ngl, the "neutral" part is long lost as long as Ganondorf is in this malicious condition. He's more filled with hatred than any other Ganon version.
  13. Sentinel

    It's not really Ganondorf

So we're coming closer to an agreement. I agree that Ganondorf really needs to be fleshed out much more to be a more interesting antagonist, although I doubt it will satisfy your expectations. However, seeing more of a side of him of which we actually see whole reasonings besides "I'm doing it...

    It's not really Ganondorf

This Ganondorf is the most malicious one of the entire series; so him turning good would mean that Ganondorf gets rid of every single negative emotion or malicious intent which was built so far - that's the thing which bothers me. It just doesn't go along with his entire portrayal throughout the...
  15. Sentinel

    It's not really Ganondorf

I fail to realise how it isn't the same, though. When did Ganondorf go for a change? Even in WW, he was still a malicious antagonist but with some motive this time. I don't say that it is bad in general to give him better characteristics but is has to be done well and not a sudden 180° change...
  16. Sentinel

    It's not really Ganondorf

Where's the point of him suddenly turning good just for the sake of changing something? It is actually the very contrast from good writing of an antagonist, it is very bad writing. Just like you can't make Joker good, there are clearly levels to Ganondorf's nature as well. Sure, you can flesh...

    It's not really Ganondorf

The King of Evil. Ganondorf is the perfect incarnation of Demise' hatred because he is evil ever since he was born. Making him good destroys everything remarkable about his entire existence. He is the prime example of the main series antagonist because he is pure evil.
  18. Sentinel

    It's not really Ganondorf

I'm sorry if you got the impression of me disrespecting your religion but this was not my intention at all. This phrase was merely meant to describe how (negatively) unthinkable the thought of a good Ganon/Ganondorf is. That's not interesting, that's a pure destruction of his entire character...

    Expectations on bosses

I think I highly elaborated my stance on expectations when it comes to bosses but I think this question is also interesting: How many (dungeon) bosses will appear in BotW2? If there are 6 - 9 large dungeons, we might also see 9 individual bosses again.
  20. Sentinel

    It's not really Ganondorf

Hell no, this one is actually blasphemous af. I'd rather see the Link 10000 years ago being corrupted in which he became Ganondorf instead of this one.

    Expectations on bosses

As I said, it's an issue of the difficulty, not the formular. Many Zelda games proved to be very challenging with its boss battles even if you need a specific item to use against the boss. I can just mention A Link to the Past, again! :crylaugh: It's not an understatement to say many bosses...

    Expectations on bosses

The use of the environment during boss battles is something I'd really like to see as well! Imagine you are entering a very large space of a boss room with some catapults or some extra layers of ground and you battle a gigantic boss being imbued in very hardened armor and you have to use the...

    Expectations on bosses

    Expectations on bosses

I see nothing wrong in utilizing a boss battle with the kind of gameplay you're capable of, ie using your weapon of choice and item to beat the boss. Mostly, it is a battle to find weakspots as well as aiming towards them. It is not a simple "Smash the f*cker until it is dead!", you have to...

    Expectations on bosses

I hope they absolute do not drop this formula. Zelda is just one of the few franchises when you can actually fight the boss via attacking his weakspots with specific items; mostly it is just about hitting the boss over and over until it is defeated - and I grew tired of it. I mean, if you are...

    Expectations on bosses

Well, that's an issue of the difficulty, isn't it? I mean, giving the bosses more HP, making them deal more damage and giving them more unpredictable moves is a good start. And as I said, games like A Link to the Past actually allowed the player to use several items against a single boss - they...

    BotW2 linear and gated progression

    Expectations on bosses

So you basically want the Zelda dev team to completely get rid of their unique (dungeon) boss formular only to make the same boss concept like every other video game lol. if possible what bosses might return in botw 2

Gohma has to appear again. Also, a dungeon boss like Molgera wouldn't be bad either. Or some bosses of the 2D Zelda games, some would really look amazing with BotW art style: Helmaroc King Or even Gleeok. I just hope we'll get traditional Zelda dungeons + bosses in general when it comes...

What if Botw had optional dungeons, which transformed a few existing shrines when you reached each main plot point?

BotW was meant to have 10 Divine Beasts - and yes, these were meant to be dungeons: https://doutzen-kroes.tumblr.com/post/185794151151/the-divine-beasts-are-these-strange-things-that They were supposed to have palaces, bridges and factories as mobile fully-fledged dungeons. However, Idk why...

What if this game turns out to be an absolute nightmare?

If they plan to make one gigantic dungeon into the sequel, it'd basically be like Phantom Hourglass with the Temple of the Ocean King but without any traditional dungeons. No thanks, I'm not interested to this kind of gameplay and the pure intention to throw anything away which gave the Zelda...

    BotW2 linear and gated progression

That's true but as I said, the maps in Dark Souls are like incredibly large dungeons themselves, finding many ways to connect the maps even further. It is linear but also like an open-world - you can choose whenever you take the usual route or to use the shortcuts on a map. Yep, that's the...

    BotW2 linear and gated progression

Yeah, but wasn't the map of Dark Souls like a very big dungeon as well, connecting all areas? I dunno how should this fit in BotW2 alongside the more traditional (?) dungeons.
  40. Sentinel

Do you want bosses to have their own identites in BotW2?

Traditional bosses >>>>>> blight ganons. It's very obvious, individual design, a more fitting theme for a dungeon - all blight ganons did not have that and that's why, they were very lame for dungeon bosses (it's not like the bosses are the only issue about the divine beasts anyway)...
  41. Sentinel

    BotW2 linear and gated progression

I hope this is the case. Yes, BotW was incredible because of its freedom in exploration but technically, Link already canonically discovered everything in Hyrule. Unless the developers could decide to extend the same map even further, I simply cannot see how the same mechanism works for the...

What would you have wanted from the next new 3D overworld in Zelda?

That's an interesting concept imo. Sure, they'll reuse the same map but who says that they won't extend the same map even further? IIRC, the team had more issues with the physics engine (a reason why the developers needed that long for BotW) but now that they're using the same engine for the...
