I have to agree with you that the silent realm gave me such a heart beat, it provides the suspense that I haven't felt in a long time playing a video game. On the other hand the one thing I would change from the game is the fun fun island quest. I don't know maybe give it a different take on how...
A friend once told me about the story and the game, I got interested so he let me play his game cube version of Oot Master Quest, since the I just fell in love with the game, I've been playing it ever since!!!
Sometimes I do not even use it I keep saving it for my last legendary, but turns out the last legendary I am about to caught is the easiest of them all!!

during the last trial right after I get my LAST tear, I just had to fall in the lava and got caught by I watcher jajaja. I had to Run like a ..., but I made it with a gurdian right behind me ready to shatter me seconds before a finish the trial. Can not tell u how fast my heart was pounding but...
Dowsind has its cool moments but for me it wasn't that useful during my playtrough just because i kind knew were I was going and sometimes it was obvious where I needed to go.
I would have to say (even thou there are great enemies) from SS, the ancient cistern's boss Koloktos just because it was extremely fun to dismember him with my new weapon (the whip), and on top of that to being able to defeat him with his own sword. Priceless!!!!!
