but in all seriousness, these are more pointers on how to be a better typist rather than a better writer imo

If you are writing in a professional area where it is critical that miscommunication is avoided, these are good tips. If you are intending to write fiction, ignore all of this, nobody actually cares. Just write. That is all that matters.

I beg to differ. I write fiction and these have helped. I want to do it for a living so I'm taking it as seriously as I can.

then you probably should know that commas go before and after addressing a person. it's 'hey, dude;' not 'hey dude'
