  • Queens of the Stone Age is awesome, I've only heard singles though. And Josh Freese sounds pretty cool... I should look him up.
But you'd probably like some of my work... once I start my work. :P We've described our musical genre as "industrial progressive alternative metal" (in other words, NIN mixed with Tool, with a lot of Chevelle's dynamics).
Maynard's a pretty big 'azz' live in general. He once played an APC show wearing nothing but a diaper, and sitting in the corner the whole show. And who's Josh Freese?
Alex Grey is pure awesome, :D
I listen to Tool, Radiohead, Chevelle, Coheed & Cambria, I'm trying to get into Nine Inch Nails, Linkin Park (their old stuff AND their new stuff), Foster The People, AWOLNATION, Seether, and a few others. Mostly just Linkin Park, Tool, Chevelle, Radiohead, and Foster the People, though.
The Cure is pretty good (Chevelle also takes inspiration from them), I've only heard a couple Interpol songs, and I haven't listened to the other two you listed.
And I agree... the radio is completely full of crap these days. Even rock stations. 93.1 The Fox (mah local rock station) claims they play rock, but half of he stuff they play is (and I mean this literally) indie pop. Stuff like Foster The People, AWOLNATION, and Neon Trees. I mean, I like Foster the People and AWOLNATION (those are actually the only two bands of that genre that I like :P), but neither are rock.
Dude, I'd kill (not literally) to see a Chevelle show...
I see Chevelle and Tool compared consistently. The only reason I started listening to Tool is because I listened to Chevelle constantly at the time, and i heard they sounded similar. I, personally, completely disagree with that statement, and think the only thing that links the two is, as you said, the vocals. I, however, don't really thinks he rips off Maynard's vocals, though. I just think he kinda sings like him because Chevelle takes heavy inspiration from Tool (in fact, the same guy who produced 10,000 Days also produces Chevelle, lol). I love them both, though. :D
Yeah, when you listen to enough of Maynard Kennan and Thom Yorke, you start to become really picky about vocalists, lol. I've heard of Ashes Divide, but I've never really listened to them.
Have you ever listened to Chevelle? Now THEY have a good singer (IMO, of course).
Not sure of you knew this or not, but A Perfect Circle actually isn't Maynard's side project, it's Adam Jones' guitar tech Billy Howerdel's side project. I thought that was kinda interesting.
I've only heard The Bends and OK Computer. I think OK Computer is one of the (if not the) greatest pieces of music ever written.
Exactly! He should know better but he keeps trying. I'd rather him stick to the soundtracks as well.
Last July I went up there for my birthday. I went to King's Island and Cedar Point. At King's Island, my favorite coaster was Diamondback. I rode the Beast. I liked it, but it wasn't my favorite.
Cool, thanks! You don't see too many people with really good musical taste around here. :P
I tried so hard to like HTDA, but ugh, Trent. I love your music but this is a bad project. And yes, I do! :D
Oh and I forgot to say, yeah, our sound is very (maybe a little too much) much like Tool. Like I said, we haven't played live yet, but when we do we'll likely do a good mix of covers and originals, and we'll probably do a LOT of tool covers. And Chevelle covers, and possobly Coheed covers as well. Just bands that kinda define our sound, you know?
Well, we only started about half a year ago, and right now we're just trying to get songs written. XD
As for studio vs. live, I figured I'd be more of a studio type of person, because I am also kind-of a control freak when it comes to the mix. Everything has to sound just right. As for live, I didn't really worry about messing up. I know I'm going to mess up, but if there's one thing I've learned from concerts, it's how nobody will even notice you messing up as long as you're turned up loud enough. Haha.

But yeah, we've never played live as of yet, but our bassist's dad wouldn't have any trouble getting us a show.
I play guitar primarily. I can play bass, but the instrument is really uncomfortable for me to play (strings are too big, too far apart, the neck is too long). I just guess I was just made to play guitar :D, so I stick to guitar. As far as vocals go, I haven't tried my voice enough to really know if I can sing or not. I've been playing guitar for years, mostly as a spare time sort of thing, and I only recently became a really serious musician.
    So, is playing live fun?
