I took "Old Hyrule" as looking back into history, so WW won out for me. Hyrule Castle underwater but in completely amazing fashion was a blast to run around in.
Since I have to pick just one (grrrrr), I'll go with Termina Field. I like the mix of classic theme and some whimsy in the intro, which is a fun contrast to the darkness inherent in that moon you're running around underneath.
Honorable mentions for me are OoT (nostalgia, plus the fact that...
I liked the knife chamber in the stock pot inn. I just always found it comical to have link staying in what amounts to the motel 6 of termina, and how it had that dilapidated quality. Maybe link will hole up and "write his dark novel" before the moon crashes haha
No love for the goddess that is the spirit Temple? Between the time awaiting getting there, the temple inside, and of course the gerudo valley theme music, I thought it was pretty killer :)
I side with the skills, especially if there were somewhat complicated ones! I liked finding them but also felt that they were simple to execute; it was almost frustrating that I couldn't just have them from the beginning of the game.
I was curious about whether they'd have a role in SS with the whole Hylia thing. Maybe one day in the future that could be an interesting direction to move in
I like how many Zelda enemies there are! But a good point was made above about how in OoT there weren't repeats; you wouldn't find a deku scrub in Ganon's castle for example. But in SS it was ridiculous facing the same enemies over and over.
I think it depends on the audience. Like, old school Zelda fans probably don't care because 1) new Zelda and that's what matters and 2) Cel-shading just hardens back to other classics like ALTTP in the sense of cartoony graphics (they didn't have a choice then but that didn't make it a bad game...
This exactly. Redeads are scary in general but with the scream in wind waked they graduated to nightmare-inducing.
I do remember being scared by merely seeing their artwork from OoT, that's heavy for an 8 year old. I remember going as far as avoiding learning the sun song haha.
Basically, this. If you get a kick out of campy stuff, then it's pretty good. If not, then it may not be your thing. I personally thought it was pretty cool, but in that way where it was so bad that it kinda ended up okay.
They're really really cool! Especially the ones for games you like. It's a fun take on something familiar because they change up some of the details at times!
