I lived and died as a hero. I have no regrets about that in itself. I can declare that there was not a single disagreeable thing in my life. Even so, I can’t help but think. If I weren’t a prince, if I were just an ordinary man. Wouldn’t I have been able to earnestly pursue my own will? It doesn’t matter if I’m not acknowledged by anyone. I don’t mind if I’m not praised by anyone. I want to acknowledge myself. I want to have pride in myself. There lies what I sought. What I wished for. I want to stand on the side of what I believe in. If I could do that, then surely—I would be able to live with my chest puffed up proudly. I won’t fight for the sake of someone else. I won’t fight for my own sake either. For the sake of the benevolence that I believe in, the justice I believe in, the loyalty I believe in, and the love I believe in. I will take hold of this sword and fight with this body. That is my dream, my wish. I want to be a hero of justice.
Even if I am to carry all the evils of this world, it won't matter. If that can save the world, then I'd gladly accept it.
There’s no hope on the battlefield. It has nothing but unspeakable despair. Just a crime we call victory, paid for by the pain of the defeated. Yet humanity has never recognized this truth. And the reason for that is, in every era, a dazzling hero has blinded people with their legends and prevented them from seeing the evil of bloodshed. The true nature of humanity has not advanced a step beyond the Stone Age.
Knights cannot save the world. They call certain methods of fighting good and others evil, acting as if there were some nobility to the battlefield. Such illusions, perpetrated by heroes throughout history, have led countless young men to their bloody deaths, all for the sake of this valor and glory.
To win, but not destroy; to conquer, but not humiliate: That is what true conquest is!
-Iskander, King of Conquerors
Glory lies beyond the horizon... Speak of conquest and demonstrate it!
-Iskander, King of Conquerors
The inferiority you feel is actually a quality of a conqueror. You may grumble a lot, but you know how small you are. And yet you still struggle to reach heights greater than you can imagine.
-Iskander, King of Conquerors
I am the bone of my sword. Steel is my body, and fire is my blood. I have created over a thousand blades. Unknown to death. Nor known to life. Have withstood pain to create many weapons. Yet, those hands will never hold anything. So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works!
Fighting for others, but not yourself, is nothing but hypocrisy.
Hero of Justice? A world where no one is hurt?" Don't be absurd. "Humanity" is the name for an animal that cannot find joy in life without sacrifice. The pretty lie that is "equality" is nonsense spouted by weaklings who cannot look upon the darkness. Nothing but an excuse to cover up life's ugliness.
Stating the obvious is the hallmark of a fool.
It makes me mad when people try so hard to become victims. Is it greedy of me to wish for an outcome where everyone gets saved and is happy--and can share a laugh about it in the end?
If you walk down the path you believe is right, you cannot be wrong.
Long ago, the world was nothing more than an endless sea cloaked in a boundless sky, reaching as far as could possibly be imagined. Then two great titans came into existence. The Bionis and the Mechonis. The titans were locked in a timeless battle. Until at last, only their lifeless corpses remained. [...] Eons have passed. Now, our world, this vast land stretching across the remains of the Bionis, is under attack by a relentless force known as the Mechon.
Behold the power of the Monado!
The future doesn't belong to you!
Egil, leader of Mechonis, the Machina and all that lives on Bionis, are one and the same. We won't stop, not until you realize that!
What's important isn't whether we can see the future or not. It's the will to make a choice, and the strength to seize our destiny. Our time has come! Our destiny is our own!
The future we see is not set in stone. There are infinite possibilities based on the paths we choose. You should be well aware of that notion. For that is how you have always existed!
It is not only you who has the right to fight. Every living thing has the freedom to choose the path they walk. And that is the future!
Fear robs us of reason. Out of fear we commit terrible atrocities, and try to call them acts of self-preservation.
We may die if we take a stand here. But staying gives us the chance to change our destinies.
This world is in disarray. I must eliminate the cause of this disorder and restore the world to its original form. This is my duty. Nay, the will of the world!
You are just bugs intended to feed the life of my sworn adversary. Do not speak to me of your foolish unity!
You doubt my convictions, my reasons. In order to avenge my people, I've risked everything. Can you say the same?
Don't be surprised. Everything in this world is dictated by the passages of fate. As all that exists is interconnected, time can only flow towards the inevitable. That is the vision of which I, the Monado, am the origin. That which will be, will be. This was all predestined.
All life that is born from me must be returned to me eventually to complete the cycle. For me to continue my existence as before, then all must be restored to its former order.
It is from me that all life is born. It lives only for me. And it shall be returned!
Stubborn mortals. So desperate to cling to your pathetic lives. Even when there is no hope for you!
I finally understand. The lives of our children belong to them. Though we are their creators, their lives are to control. Even if the passage of fate is as you have decided, I will teach you the strength of their will to resist. If you choose to deny the existence of every single being but yourself, then I choose to fight for them!
Bravery isn't about never being afraid. Bravery is being afraid and moving forward anyway.
Whether you win or lose, looking back and learning from your experiences is part of life.
I was wrong. Kindness is pointless. We have to separate the good from the trash. I'm going to become King.
I wonder if it's the selfish people who get ahead in this world, after all.
You might be able to do it if you try. But if you don’t try, you definitely can’t.
Even if everyone calls you a liar, even if you hate yourself, I’ll be on your side.
He's human. He's heartbrakingly human.
There are only two paths you can choose. You can sit quietly and be selected out of this world, or you can adapt and change!
A life with no adventure in it is boring. The least a friend can do is stir up a little trouble in your heart.
The coward's shield that armors the weak self inside.
Do you think I can shoulder everyone's lives and not feel any weight? I don't want to be indifferent. I want to be worthy of everyone's feelings.
A king has no friends. He only has underlings and pawns.
Hey, Shu, have you ever read the picture book called "The Kind King"? The king was really kind, he gave everyone money and land, until finally... the country was gone. The people were all mad at the king. But I really loved him. I think he was my first love. You're like that king, Shu. The way you lose because of your kindness. You know what? I think your going to be a great king.
Perhaps what is right is not like the sun, but more like the stars. There are an infinite number of stars in the heavens and they cancel out each other's light. Your Highness is attempting to walk down the path of righteousness. Please proceed down that path at all costs.
Surviving means continuing to shoulder one’s burden. When you can’t handle that strain, then you’ll be the one to die next.
Fight back! Why won't you fight back? -Cynder
Because you've left me nothing to fight for. -Spyro
There's always something. -Cynder
Even in the darkest of times, there is always hope. But sometimes fear clouds our vision. Sometimes our strength gives out. And yet sometimes, when all seems lost, a light shines through the darkness, and we are reminded that even the smallest amount of courage can turn the tides of war.
Our path through life is not always the path we chose. Sometimes our paths are chosen for us... and it is our destiny to follow it. Wherever it may lead.
I've peered into the souls of countless men with my Sacred Eyes. Not a single one of them were without sin. Don't you find that funny? Committing sins to escape sins you've already committed... By the time you realize it, you've already lost sight of it, buried in your sins... Lost sight of what you were after in the first place.
I never cared about justice, and I don't recall ever calling myself a hero. I have always only fought for the people I believe in. I won't hesitate... If an enemy appears in front of me, I will destroy it!
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.
-Gandalf the Gray
How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart you begin to understand there is no going back? There are some things time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep that have taken hold.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
