The only Zelda game wherein such a thing happened was the original, which let you skip straight to the second quest. It would be awesome if they did something like that for SS wherein it lets you skip straight to Hero Mode... but I doubt that's the case.

I really don't understand how you all are interpreting this so incorrectly. He keeps talking about the 3D remake in terms of a 3D Classics sort of way. Everytime he mentions the remake, he points out the fact that ALttP has "several layers" meaning it was the first time you could be "upstairs"...

Well it cannot be a sequel because many of many factors (Gerudos not existing by ALttP, etc) so it is certainly a prequel in that it must take place at some point prior to ALttP. Not to say it cannot take place DIRECTLY prior to ALttP, however.
