kaeporagaeboraWelcome back all my little Zelda fans! We now return to our regularly scheduled weekly news recap where I, Kaepora Gaebora take you on a fantastical flight back in time. We will be spending our time today going back through all the biggest happenings and comments from the past week in the land of Hyrule and beyond. This week we spend quite a bit of time on the most important thing we have here at Zelda Dungeon, you our readers! This past week you all shared some fantastic comments on the pieces our authors provided you with, and we want to show them off. So lets not waste any more time and get started on our journey, but before we do I must ask…

Did you get all that? If so, fly with me past the break.

We begin our journey today with the first Gossip Stone of the week from Jon. In this Gossip Stone Jon zelda-timeline-big__large (1)poses the question as to where in the Zelda timeline should a new title fall? With the release of Hyrule Historia and the first official timeline for the series being published this lead many fans to be surprised, and then to quickly begin to ponder all of the possibilities that the three path timeline opened up. Jon shared his desires of a continuation of the story that falls within the last branch and following along the story of Four Swords. Many of you shared what you would like to see in future Zelda games as well;

Giana shared:

“I think the new Zelda game should fall on the Adult Timeline, specifically after Phantom Hourglass and before Spirit Tracks. Link and Zelda reach a beautiful new world and create Hyrule. I think it is the perfect spot. With the hype about an open world that looks lush with green, what better time than when Link and Zelda search for a new land? To tie Ganondorf into this, maybe we could use what was seen in Hyrule Warriors? The idea of having Ganon split into four and one of them happened to be on the new continent? Just a little brainstorming, but I really feel that the new Zelda should be in the gap of the “new continent found” on the timeline.”

But AnteMajora had some other ideas:

“I would love to see a game between MM and TP, since there are so many ways to connect the two games and make a really interesting story. For example twili/Majora tribe connections, the life/death of Mm-Link, the happy mask salesman (the dude is able to travel between parallel worlds and walk around with a mask powerful enough to destroy a world. An assault by a skullkid can’t possibly be the only thing thst ever happened to him), Termina/Twilight realm/Hyrule connections, the way Ganondorf got his triforce piece in that timeline.

I imagine a scenario in which some grand evil rises and where Link and Ganondorf team up to deafeat this evil (I imagine Ganondorf getting a suspended sentence with limited powers on the terms thst he helps out). The quest would involve following the footsteps of Mm-Link and/or the happy mask salesman to find out what happened them and to find clues and equipment (masks, sword, skills, spells etc) in order to defeat the new enemy.

Like I mentioned mentioned, having Ganondorf teaming up with link could also explain how he would obtain a piece of the triforce in that timeline (Ganondorf was also destined to achieve greatness or something). Given how this particular thing was mentioned in tp as something that occured “as by some cruel joke by the gods”, the cooperation with Link would be secret, or Ganondorf betrays link at some point in the quest, or maybe Link shows an evil side and betrays Ganondorf, using him as an escape goat.

This felt like a teally cool idea in my head, but it came out kind of messy… Anyways, although I don’t think that Zelda U will bring this, I think a future game at this spot on the timeline is likely to be made at some point, given that a there’s a blank era between MM and TP on the timeline that they are probably gonna fill in at some point.”

The second stop on our path back in time takes us to another most talked about post, the weekly ZD the-legend-of-zelda-wii-uTalks. In this edition we all answered the question: “What is the most important thing you would like to see in Zelda U?” Five different ZD staffers shared there answers that ranged from a possible fear of an open world game and wanting the title to “walk the line between story driven and exploration based gaming”, to wanting to dive right in to every aspect that an open world game could provide; from tons of secret caves, loot, and huge amounts of exploration. Some of you had some very different opinions as well!

Moola shared a very interesting thought:

“If there is one thing I want to see in a Zelda game, it would be some actual post game. In just about every game after you beat the final boss, the game saves and quits, and when you load it back up you are standing in front of the final boss as though you haven’t faced him yet. I get that stuff usually happens that would make it hard, like your companion leaving and what not, but I’d like to be able to continue playing the game, as the badass who just defeated ganondorf, or some other villain.”

@Blimpimpusle has something very different in mind:

“I want to see the Dungeon Map go away. Instead have a map that reveals as you discover areas. Would be nice to also have a marker option to remember key points you may need to revisit within the dungeon. Such as a bomb-able wall, but your out of bombs. The key chime from the compass would be nice to see again. Ghost ships as well. Could have a new terrifying enemy in a non Wind Waker toon art on the ghost ship. Much worse than Redead or Deadhands.”

We next take a moment to revisit the post about the upcoming Majora’s Mask inspired Nendoroid. WithScreen Shot 2015-07-29 at 1.32.14 PM the Summer Wonder Festival having just finished in Japan we can now get a glimpse at what the latest Link in Nendoroid form will look like in all his painted glory. Unfortunately we still have no word on the exact release date or price but you gotta admit he is just stinking adorable!

The final stop on our flight into the past takes us t the second Gossip Stone of the week where Liam 198742-headerasked: “What method of transportation do you prefer?” While through the entire Zelda series players have been given many different options to get around the land or lands that need exploring, there seems to be one main constant among fans, Epona! There is something to be said about sticking to a classic with the much beloved and loyal steed that seems to inspire the hearts and minds of all who encounter the chocolate beauty. I myself have to agree, although I do have to admit I have an insanely soft spot for the King of Red Lions as well!

But some did have a different opinion, finny nightswim said:

“My favourite is and always will be Dimitri. I mean he even has tri in his name. I even heard Dimitriforce Heroes is coming out on the NXU”

However Linebeck’s Apprentice decided to stick with a classic:

“Riding with Epona gives me a sense of adventure and makes me feel like a true hero when riding through Hyrule Field with my trusted horse”

Giana although strong in her favorite might have a soft spot for some others too:

“How can you top Epona? She has always been Link’s true companion, and she may be my favorite because I like to stay classic. On the other hand, flying on a Loftwing in the sky is pretty cool, too! Link’s rare crimson red Loftwing, or his second half, will always be there to catch when he fal- oh, I mean jumps. You know, flying isn’t the only way to be above the land below. There’s also the King of Red Lions, your talking dragon boat that you can use to swiftly sail above Hyrule. However silly he may sound, he is a wise King of Hyrule, you know!
So, my favorite mode of transportation is riding on Link’s beloved Epona.
…but if I don’t want to travel in any of the ways above, I can always just warp!”
