Deku Link Terrarium
Posted on January 01 2013 by John
With the holiday season now well and truly over, people across the world have resigned to packing away their decorations and their festive cheer for yet another year. For some people this will be a relief, as the chore of having to choose and purchase presents for a large amount of people over the holiday period can often be a tiresome and stressful task. However, amongst all the discarded wrapping paper and the questionable gifts from family members, it’s nice to know that a small minority of people received gifts which were not only well thought out and of a high quality, but included extra Zelda love in the form of Deku Link from Majora’s Mask. Hit the jump to find out more!
A Reddit user by the name of Ze_Rydah_93 has shared what he considers his favorite Christmas gift this year “by far”: a terrarium featuring Deku Link made by his brother. For those of you who don’t know, a terrarium is a small, enclosed space built sorely for the purposes of observing and growing plants and animals for research or observation. It is similar to an aquarium in that it replicates a real-life environment on a smaller scale, but unlike an aquarium, focuses on a dry land-based environment. While they are used mainly for biological research and the like, many terrariums and aquariums are used for decorative purposes, as this one is. You can see the full terrarium below.
According to the comments on the Reddit page, the jar used to hold pot pourri and the removable Deku Link is made out of Sculpey, a type of modelling clay which dries and hardens when baked in an oven, and is hand painted and removable. Unfortunately this is a one-of-a-kind piece and is not on sale just yet, but Ze_Rydah_93 says in a comment that he has already commissioned his brother to make more terrariums, this time featuring Goron and Zora Link, meaning that there are more to look forward to in the future.
You can see more pictures of the terrarium at his Imgur profile here.
So what do you guys think? Would you purchase one of your own if this were in production? Are you perhaps even inspired to make your own? Tell us in the comments below!
