Minor Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity spoilers below!

In Breath of the Wild we meet the Champions from 100 years ago – Mipha, Revali, Urbosa, and Daruk were the Champions who piloted the Divine Beasts in order to combat Calamity Ganon. All four of the brave Champions met their demise at the hands of the Calamity; their spirits trapped within in the Beasts. 100 years later Link travels through Hyrule to free their spirits with the help of four “new” Champions. Sidon, Teba, Riju, and Yunobo aid Link in helping the Champions of 100 years ago. The Champions have always been a large part of the Breath of the Wild story as a whole (and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity for that matter as well.) With the Breath of the Wild sequel seemingly on the horizon will the “new” Champions of Hyrule play a larger part in the story?

I like to imagine that the sequel will take place shortly after the first game, maybe a few years after the events of Breath of the Wild. I would be hard pressed to think that Sidon, Teba, Riju, and Yunobo not make an appearance of some kind. They played a large part of their nation’s storylines in Breath of the Wild and I would hope that they would be a larger part of the new story. Would Sidon take over for his father as ruler of Zora’s Domain? Would we see an older and more mature Riju continuing to lead the people of the Gerudo? Has Yunobo found more bravery? And what about Teba? I have so many ideas and questions regarding these four and I hope that their stories are not finished. I believe that supporting characters can help move the larger story as a whole, and I hope that these “new” Champions play a part in Breath of the Wild 2.

What do you think? Will we see the “new” Champions again in Breath of the Wild 2? How do you think they will fit into the story? Sound off in the comments below!
