Daily Debate: Will the Hylian Shield Share a Similar Fate as the Master Sword in Breath of the Wild 2?

It goes without saying that the Master Sword and the Hylian Shield go together like peanut butter and jelly. In most games, you either discover the shield or go through certain challenges to be awarded with the item. These two legendary items are symbolic of the goddess Hylia and Link’s courage and willpower to save Hyrule. Therefore, like many fans, it was shocking to see the Master Sword broken in the most recent Breath of the Wild 2 trailer; but what does this mean for the Hylian Shield?

In Breath of the Wild, Link gets the Hylian Shield after defeating a Stalnox in Hyrule castle or it can be bought for 3,000 Rupees once it breaks. While it is not mandatory to find the shield, it is still an iconic piece that belongs with the Master Sword. And after witnessing the distorted appearance of the sword in Breath of the Wild 2, I wonder if the shield will have a similar fate as well. I doubt the Hylian Shield will be obtainable through another sub-boss battle in the castle, nor do I believe it will be easily bought with a certain amount of rupees.

While the corrupted Master Sword is still a mystery, we can theorize that we may need to reforge the weapon in some way. If that is the case, then perhaps the Hylian Shield will need a reforging as well and Link may need to search for certain items in order to rebuild it. Or maybe it is just as simple as finding it again.
