Daily Debate: Which Zelda Title Re-Release Would Be Best as a Switch Successor Launch Title?

The new year is approaching! For Nintendo fans, 2025 will almost certainly see the curtain being pulled back on the highly anticipated Switch successor. A new console is certainly exciting, but no matter how hyped a console is, or what unique features it offers, there will be some people who will hold off on buying the console on day one unless it launches with a game they really want. The Switch was fortunate enough to release with Breath of the Wild, and there’s no doubt that influenced a lot of people to get the Switch at launch. The likelihood of Nintendo’s next console releasing with a completely new 3D Zelda title is really unlikely, but it could launch with a re-release of a Zelda game.
The biggest candidates would be ports for The Wind Waker HD or Twilight Princess HD, titles that fans have been clamoring to see released on the Switch for years. I do think having at least one of those games during the new console’s launch could be enough to sway some people into a day one purchase.
Some secondary options that could be interesting are updated ports of Ocarina of Time 3D or Majora’s Mask 3D. While I don’t think they’d have the same reception as the two previously mentioned games, I do think they would excite some people.
If the Switch successor does launch with a Zelda re-release, which game would you prefer it to be? We’re interested to hear in the comments below!
