The NPCs of the Zelda world are colorful, quirky, and, sometimes, unsettling. Some of the more curious individuals are the many fortune tellers waiting to guide Link on his journey, or provide lost gamers with a hint. There are fortune tellers in A Link to the Past (Fortune Tellers in the Light and Dark Worlds), Twilight Princess (Fanadi), Phantom Hourglass (Astrid), Spirit Tracks (Wise One), A Link Between Worlds (Fortune Teller in Hyrule and Witch in Lorule), and Skyward Sword (Sparrot). They also make subtle appearances in Cadence of Hyrule as the Fates and the Hyrule Warriors games as Astor.

Let’s start with the one I wouldn’t trust at all: Skyward Sword’s Sparrot. Not only did he break his crystal ball, but he didn’t foresee it happening. This doesn’t bode well for his reputation, in my opinion. However, I think the one I would be most curious to visit is one I didn’t mention earlier because it isn’t a character you can find. In Breath of the Wild, Zelda’s and King Rhoam’s journals speak of a fortune teller:

“Reports keep arriving regarding the excavation of relics. The fortune teller’s prediction seem to be coming true. Calamity Ganon was not a figure of fable, or even legend. He actually existed…” — King Rhoam’s journal

“The return of Ganon looms—a dark force taunting us from afar. I must learn all I can about the relics so we can stop him. If the fortune teller’s prophecy is to be believed, there isn’t much time left…” — Zelda’s journal

This fortune teller, whom players never see, likely had the most monumental impact of any in the series — the greatest foresight and prophecy. This individual caused the resurgence of the Guardians and Divine Beasts. Not only were their visions correct, but it was on a massive scale. This is definitely more valuable than telling me where a Heart Piece is.

Which of the Zelda series fortune tellers would you trust with your future? Let us know in the comments!
