For a kingdom absolutely ravaged by Calamity Ganon, Hyrule is well on its way to rebuilding itself. Although ruins are inhabited by monsters in areas exempt of civilization, individual towns and villages are shown flourishing nonetheless. Over the course of the game, we even see an entirely new town pop up, which is why it’s no surprise that the ending of Breath of the Wild hints at Hyrule returning to how it used to be, and perhaps even beyond that.

Breath of the Wild has the largest map of all the Zelda games before it, and there are many landmarks that reference older games because of that. Incidentally, Breath of the Wild saw the return of familiar provinces like Zora’s Domain and Kakariko Village. Because of the large size, however, there were also many additions, like Lurelin Village on a beach in the southeast corner, or the many stables dotted around the land for commerce and to offer a place to rest and recuperate for weary travelers. Whether you would want to live like a nomad and explore your freedom or have a place to call home, there are many locations to choose from.

I tend to gravitate towards colder weather, so living in Gerudo Town or Lurelin Village definitely would not be my first choice. I would likely settle in a cabin in the woods like the one behind Fort Hateno or a cabin in mountains like Selmie’s Spot in the Hebra region. Although isolated, the introvert in me would prefer the option to be on my own and the adventurer in me likes the idea of going out of my way to get food or supplies.

What do you think? Where would you want to live in Breath of the Wild‘s Hyrule? What place in Hyrule is most like where you live now? Let us know in the comments below!
