The Legend of Zelda has a long list of titles to try and play. As a writer with Zelda Dungeon it is my goal to play every Zelda game, and hopefully finish each one. Sadly though there are a few I do not have access to or have attempted to play and chosen not to finish. So, what Zelda game will you never try to play again?

I recently decided that it was time for me to try Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. It’s available on Nintendo Switch Online and I had easy access to it. NSO is how I finished A Link to the Past and I was able to use the rewind button to help me through some of the more challenging areas. Playing The Adventure of Link didn’t seem like it would be too much of a challenge. I was very, very wrong! I knew that The Adventure of Link was notoriously difficult, but I was not expecting it to be as difficult as it was. I tried really hard to figure out what I needed to do, but the combat was a little hard to figure out, the map was uninteresting, and I really didn’t know what I needed to do. I spent a solid hour talking to NPCs and felt like I didn’t get anywhere. I died a lot. I thought by starting from the beginning would help me figure out what I was missing, but I didn’t.  After all of my trying I got discouraged and went back to working on finishing the first Zelda game.

The Adventure of Link also did not feel like a Zelda game in my opinion. It was very different from the original game and that became a big turn off for me. I struggled to connect to playing and it was one of those games that I tried for a couple hours, but I didn’t want to keep trying to play. I’m content to say that I gave it a shot and file it away for later, but I likely will not play it again any time soon.

Please don’t let my initial thoughts deter you from trying out The Adventure of Link! There are many among the ZD staff that enjoy the game, and if you want to try and play for yourself you can check out Zelda Dungeon’s walkthrough here. What thoughts do you have though? Is there a Zelda game that you’ve decided you won’t pick up again? Let us know in the comments below!
