Daily Debate: What Names Have You Given Your Horses in Breath of the Wild?
Posted on April 30 2020 by Charles Xavier
Earlier this month, I finally got my hands on my own Nintendo Switch, and with it, Breath of the Wild! Currently, I’m 55 hours in, and I’ve tamed a handful of horses. When registering them, I’d spend a fair amount of time trying to give each horse a worthy name. This got me thinking, what are some other player’s favorite names given to their horses in the game?
Early on in my playthrough, my first horse was dark brown with white spots. After registering the horse, I named it Spots; a simple name, but it worked. About 15 hours in, I came across a light brown horse with a golden mane. The color of the mane reminded me of my first dog, Duke, a Golden Retriever. Naturally, I had to name the horse after him, especially because when I para-glided onto his back, he was instantly tamed without me having to soothe him. Duke was a very obedient dog, so the similarities were instantly there. As for my most witty name so far, minutes before writing this, I tamed and registered the descendant of Zelda’s White Horse – a steed of such lineage needs a regal name! I came up with Candidus, which is latin for bright, shining white.
What are some of your favorite names that you’ve given to horses in Breath of the Wild? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
